Ben Affleck is offering fans a peek into his and Jennifer Lopez’s homelife and TV habits. The 50-year-old actor and filmmaker revealed that he and his wife are among the millions of people who tune in to Yellowstone to keep up with the Duttons.
Ben Affleck's Unusual Reaction To Jennifer Lopez's Affinity For 'Yellowstone' Series
Appearance On 'The Bill Simmons Podcast'
Affleck made an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast with Matt Damon recently to talk about their new film, Air.
JLo Loves Beth And Rip
During the conversation, he spilled that Lopez is a huge fan of the series, particularly the love story of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.
He's 'Kind Of Disturbed' By It
“I’m kind of disturbed that my wife really likes Yellowstone,” the Tender Bar actor joked.
She's 'Really Drawn To The Romance'
He said that his wife is “really drawn to the romance between Cole Hauser and the woman who plays his wife.” On the show, Hauser portrays the Dutton Ranch’s foreman while Kelly Reilly is his love interest and the lone Dutton daughter.
Lopez Showed Him A Clip Of Beth
He added, “Jen showed me a clip of her off of Instagram, the monologue she has in the car about the ways to become rich.”
'Love This Story'
“And then she was like, ‘I love this story of these two,’” he continued.
How He Reacted
Now, Affleck happens to be friends with Hauser and he had a funny reaction to Lopez’s fangirling.
“I was like, ‘Wait a minute? With Cole? With Hauser? What do you love about it?’” he said as Simmons and Damon laughed.
The Men's Friendship
Affleck and Hauser (and Damon, too) go way back, having appeared in a few movies together.
'School Ties' And 'Dazed And Confused'
The three starred in Robert Mandel’s 1992 drama, School Ties, alongside Brendan Fraser. The following year, the Argo actor made another movie with Hauser, Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused.
'Good Will Hunting'
In 1997, meanwhile, the three again appeared together in the film, Good Will Hunting, by Gus Van Sant.
They Both Think Hauser Is A Great Actor
During their Bill Simmons Podcast appearance, both Affleck and Damon expressed their admiration for the 48-year-old Yellowstone actor. Damon said he “was always mystified” that Hauser “wasn’t a giant movie star.”
'Pure, Raw Talent'
He described him as “pure, raw talent,” “astonishing,” and “just the sweetest soul.”
'He's Perfect' As Rip
Affleck chimed in, praising the California-born actor’s portrayal of the Yellowstone foreman.
“He is very convincing as that guy. I think America believes he is Rip. He’s perfect,” the Oscar winner said.
Affleck And Damon's Connection With John Dutton
Incidentally, Affleck and Damon go way back with John Dutton, too – well, Kevin Costner, who plays the Yellowstone patriarch, Beth’s father, and Rip’s boss. The longtime friends and frequent costars appeared as extras in Costner’s 1989 film, Field of Dreams.
Season 5 Of 'Yellowstone'
The highly successful neo-Western drama by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson is currently in its fifth season and has broken ratings records with 12.1 million viewers tuning in.
It Will Return This Summer
Half of the season has already aired, and the remaining six episodes will be released this summer.
Release of 'Air'
Meanwhile, Affleck and Damon’s new movie, Air, will hit US theaters on April 5.
What The Movie Is About
The biographical drama follows the story of the Air Jordan shoeline and how the deal with basketball star, Michael Jordan, came about.
Directed by Affleck, who stars as Nike cofounder Phil Knight as well, Air also stars Damon as sports marketing executive, Sonny Vaccaro, and Viola Davis as Jordan’s mother, Deloris.
