‘1000-Lb. Sisters’ Star Amy Slaton and Husband Michael Halterman Call It Quits

Michael Halterman, who is 40 years old, has initiated the process of divorce from his wife Amy Slaton, aged 35.

The divorce comes in under a year after the arrival of their second child, as per Us Weekly.

Us Weekly has acquired court documents revealing that Michael Halterman filed for divorce from the reality TV personality on March 13 in Kentucky.

July 2022 marked the arrival of the former couple's second child, Glenn Allen Halterman.

In a statement to Today, Slaton shared her excitement about the birth of their new baby:

“The wait is finally over... Michael and I are happy to announce the birth of our son, Glenn Allen Halterman. The delivery was a huge success and now I have both of my miracle boys; our family is complete!”

The photos capture Amy and her ex-husband radiating happiness, with Amy's bold blue hair pulled back in a ponytail.

Another photo features her oldest son, Gage, grinning with delight at his new baby brother.

Slaton and Halterman first met in high school, and after dating for several years before their reality show, they tied the knot in 2019.

In November 2020, Amy and Michael celebrated the arrival of their first son, whose birth and pregnancy journey were documented on their TLC series,1000-lb. Sisters.

According to an insider in late February, the couple had already been living apart for seven months.

The insider added that the former couple had disagreements about their children's participation in the popular TLC series being a major point of contention.

"[Michael] doesn't want the kids to be on the show, but Amy disagrees," the insider revealed.

"They have been fighting over this for months, nothing that Amy also felt Michael was 'lazy' with helping out with their children."

According to the source, Michael exhibited signs of jealousy regarding the attention that Amy was showering on their children instead of him.

As previously reported by The U.S. Sun, Amy had expressed concerns about her son's weight and had temporarily moved out of their family home to live with her sister Tammy Slaton.

Amy has reportedly been residing with her sister Tammy for more than six months, following Tammy's recent marriage to Caleb Willingham and their subsequent relocation to a two-bedroom house.

According to the source, Tammy has been "feeling frustrated with Amy being over at her home with the kids."

The two sisters achieved a major breakthrough in January 2020, with the premiere of 1000-lb. Sisters, a show that chronicled their romantic relationships, marriages, and family growth.
