American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift kicked off her record-breaking Eras Tour at the State Farm Stadium on Friday. She had a few words for the theorists claiming she doesn't like Evermore.
Here are the details!
On Friday, Taylor Swift joked with her fans on stage for the Eras Tour as she dispelled the rumors that she hates her 2020 album, Evermore. As she sat beside her piano while speaking to her fans, Taylor joked, saying, "What is your evidence? I would like to see your evidence."
The rumors that Taylor Swift disliked her Evermore album began one year after she ignored wishing the album a happy anniversary in 2021. The songstress released two albums, Folklore and Evermore, with only the first one getting an anniversary shoutout from the star.
While some Taylor Swift fans, Swifties, that loved the Evermore album were outraged, others felt she might have forgotten. Primarily because she released two albums within a short time, she unintentionally ignored one.
Her Evermore music producer, Aaron Dessner, acknowledged the album's one-year success, while Taylor ignored it. The producer tweeted about it, saying, "Happy birthday evermore!!! @taylorswift13 (hard to believe it's been a year!?!?!?)."
Despite her complete disregard to acknowledge it, Evermore was a success. The album got a Grammy nomination, and Billboard recognized its one-year stay on the Billboard200 via a tweet.
While on stage with her piano on Friday for her tour, the Shake It Off singer says she saw all the comments about her ignoring Evermore's one-year anniversary. She said, "The 'Evermore' album, which is an album I absolutely love despite what some of you say on TikTok." Jokingly she adds, "Oh, I've seen it. I've seen all of it."
As her show continued, the star singer said, "I love to keep up with you guys online. You guys are really funny. You have a really good sense of humor." She adds, "Sometimes you like to tease me about things. And the really hilarious thing that you were on for a while was saying, 'Taylor hates Evermore.'"
Anyone who knows Taylor would agree she's a sucker for her Swifties. She goes on to destroy the notion that she hates Evermore by saying, "But I'm here to dispel the rumors and prove wrong the allegations that I hate Evermore because I actually love that album and am so proud of it."
To prove it, she sings a song off the album for her fans at the State Farm Stadium. She says, "I'm so happy you love it. So, I'd be delighted and honored if you would join me in singing Champagne Problems."
That wasn't all from Taylor! She performed four other songs off the Evermore album to prove she knew it existed.
In another turn of events, some fans felt her performance on Friday ignored the 2010 Speak Now album. One fan tweeted, "taylor finally recognized evermore but at the expense of speak now.. two of my top taylor albums. i've won but at what cost?? #TSTheErasTour"
Without mincing words, it's clear Taylor Swift enjoyed her time on Friday in her record-breaking tour. The I Knew You Were Trouble singer had 16 costume changes done for her show and performed 44 songs from her albums over 3 hours and 15 minutes.
While performing to her 70,000 fans at the State Farm Stadium, Taylor brought a glowing saber-like golf club to the stage while rocking a pink beaded mini skirt and top.
Her golf club, which brought in extra stunning visuals to the show, is an update to the original version she used in the video for her hit song Blank Space.
The 33-year-old singer also spoke on stage about how her songs are like journals for her fans. She said, "[My songs are] kind of like journaling for you or something. And I wanted to do a different thing that I had done before [with Folklore]."
After an amazing applause from fans, she continued her speech by explaining how her album feels like an excruciating autobiography of her. In her exact words, Taylor says, "My albums have characteristically been, sort of, excruciatingly autobiographical where, like, when I put out an album sometimes, it just feels like getting some sort of live-streamed, public autopsy."
As she held a guitar while on stage during her tour concert, Taylor Swift talked about how she loves explaining to me how to apologize. She said, "So, sort of a recurring theme in my music is that I love to explain to men how to apologize. I just love it."
Then she continues her statement, adding, "It's kind of my thing. I love to tell them step-by-step, 'Here's how simple this is to fix things if you just follow these easy steps that I'm laying out for you in a three-minute song.' I just love the idea of men apologizing."
Although her Friday concert at Glendale, Arizona, might be over, her tour isn't. Taylor Swift will continue her first tour in the last five years till August of this year.
