Valentina Pinault Wears Her Mom's 1997 Gown to the Academy Awards

The 15-year-old beauty, who is Salma’s only child with her billionaire husband, François-Henri Pinault, wore a strapless red gown that had a lot of nostalgia attached to it.

Salma’s stylist, Rebecca Corbin-Murray, shared a photo of the mother-daughter moment on Instagram and revealed the outfit details in the caption.

“We pulled this beautiful Isaac Mizrahi dress for Valentina from Salma’s archive,” she wrote, while also acknowledging the jewelry designer, hairstylist, and makeup artist. Swipe to see when Salma originally wore it in 1997.

In the second slide, the 56-year-old Frida star can be seen wearing the Mizrahi number when she attended the Fire & Ice Ball more than two decades ago.

That makes the gorgeous dress a full 10 years older than Valentina!

It has a timeless and elegant design, though, and the teenager pulled it off beautifully. She styled it with a diamond necklace and a silver Gucci bag, along with a wavy blonde hairdo.

Back in 1997, Salma teamed it with a diamond choker, a purse in a deeper shade of red, and half-up curls.

At the recently concluded Oscars, meanwhile, the House of Gucci actress looked every inch the Hollywood star in an orange sequin gown by – you guessed it – Gucci.

The dress featured a keyhole cutout, a tinsel-covered skirt, and a curve-hugging silhouette that showed off her famous figure.

The star, who presented the Best International Feature Film award and landed on best-dressed lists that evening, topped off her look with a loose center-parted hairstyle with subtle waves.

Salma and Valentina made quite the glamorous pair on the Oscars champagne carpet, and it was indeed a special moment considering it’s been almost two years since they last posed together for an A-list event.

The two last hit the red carpet together at the premiere of Eternals in October 2021.

Back then, they both opted for black ensembles. Salma chose a peplum gown by Gucci that featured a plunging neckline and a thigh-high slit, teamed with gold platform pumps and a velvet clutch.

Valentina, meanwhile, went for a cute polka-dot mini dress by Saint Laurent, styled with a quilted leather clutch, sheer tights, and ankle boots.

It’s no coincidence that Salma wears Gucci a lot. Her husband is the chairman and CEO of Kering, which owns Gucci and Saint Laurent, among other luxury brands.

That makes her the unofficial brand ambassador and muse of the iconic Italian fashion house.

And if the power couple’s daughter will be hitting more red carpets from here on out, it’s safe to say she’ll be showcasing a lot of high-end looks from Kering’s brands, too.

Salma and François-Henri started dating around 2006, although the details are not clear. The actress has opted not to disclose the story to the media.

They announced their engagement in March 2007, welcomed Valentina in September, and got married in February 2009.
