'Memoriam' Snub Sparks Controversy From Robert Blake's Family

We all know Robert blake, best known for his role in the 1974 film The Long Goodbye, which earned him critical acclaim.

Robert Blake was left out of the In Memoriam segment. No one knows the reason, but it needs to be clarified. Some have speculated that it may be due to his controversial past.

Blake was arrested for the murder of his wife, Bonnie Lee Bakley, in 2005. However, he was found liable for her death in a civil trial and was called to pay her children millions of damages.

The way Academy ignored Robert Blake in the Memoriam segment, the family is hurt. They have expressed disappointment at his exclusion.

Noah Blake tells TMZ, "People are allowed to have their own opinion about his father, which many have, but he says when it comes to an annually anticipated segment like the Oscars Memoriam, opinions shouldn't be a factor."

As you may be familiar, celebrities like Tom Sizemore, Anne Heche, and Paul Sorvino were also kept out of the broadcast, in addition to his father. That appears to happen yearly, and Noah believes it wasn't handled properly this time.

Robert passed away on Thursday, three days before the Oscars, so there was time to include him in the In Memoriam montage, but it's obvious that wasn't the original intention.

The snub has caused a stir on social media, with many users expressing their outrage at Blake's exclusion. Some have accused the Academy of snubbing Blake due to his controversial past. In discussion, others have argued that his contributions to the industry should have been enough to earn him a place in the In Memoriam segment.

The Academy did not comment on the controversy. However, they have faced criticism for leaving out other notable industry figures from the In Memoriam segment, including Luke Perry and Cameron Boyce. The In Memoriam segment at the Oscars is always emotional, as Hollywood remembers those who passed away the previous year. However, this time, the part has been subject to controversy.

About the late Robert Blake, Jimmy Kimmel cracked a joke. He said, "Everybody, please get out your phones, even at home, it's time to vote: If you think Robert Blake should be part of the In Memoriam montage, text GIMME-A-Blake to the number on your screen or to any number. Text that to your mother if you like (message and data rates may apply)."

Noah believed Jimmy Kimmel's joke on whether or not to include Robert in the segment was in terrible taste. Also, he added that it fell flat since he wasn't sure whether the "interactive part" was real or simply a joke.

Some people found Kimmel's joke hilarious, while others thought it was inappropriate.

Some shared positive feedback. A user commented,  "A solid 8/10 performance by Kimmel ... big ups for the Robert Blake joke ahead of the in memorial." While another person wrote, "That Robert Blake joke is still making me cackle."

On the other hand, several people did not find the joke amusing, as seen by one who wrote, "Is it me, or was Jimmy Kimmel's comment tonight about Robert Blake in poor taste?"

The uproar surrounding Robert Blake's omission from the Oscars' In Memoriam section has raised questions about how the industry handles those with questionable pasts. His history may have been the reason for his expulsion, but his contributions to the industry ought to have been acknowledged.

The emotional John Travolta presented the sad part of Memoriam, which featured a performance from Lenny Kravitz. Fallen stars honored included Olivia Newton-John, Kirstie Alley, Robbie Coltrane, and James Caan.

Over his career, Blake has worked on over 200 film and television serials, and many still consider his portrayal in The Long Goodbye one of his greatest.

Blake began his career in the 1930s by performing in song and dance with his family, but he rose to fame as a child actor after landing the lead part in the last Our Gang films produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

We think Academy should continue to honor and recognize those who have contributed to the development of Hollywood as it continues to change and adapt. Whether or not it is debatable, their efforts ought to be honored.
