Surprise! Robin Roberts Spotted On Rare Outing with Girlfriend Amber Laign After 18 Years Together

On March 1, 2023, Robin and Amber were caught on camera together on a rare sighting in New York City, looking like the perfect couple.

The duo was dressed for the winter weather, with the 62-year-old broadcaster opting for black sweatpants, a black fur-trimmed coat, a scarf, and a gray beanie.

Amber dressed casually in a white top, black pants, a long army green unbuttoned coat, and a scarf. She completed the outfit with a crossbody bag.

Robin and Amber have been dating for 18 years. The longtime couple first crossed paths in 2005 when mutual friends set them on a blind date.

A few years later, Robin recalled her first encounter with Amber in her memoir Everybody's Got Something. The Good Morning America co-host revealed that Amber didn't know who she was when they met, and she liked it.

According to Robin, the masseuse rarely followed sports and never saw her on ESPN, In addition, Amber's office mates watched a different morning show at the time.

Robin then noted that her girlfriend was extremely laid-back with no drama. She added that the main thing she and Amber had in common was positive energy.

Following their first meeting, the pair soon started dating. Two years later, Robin and Amber faced their first big test. In 2007, Robin was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer.

Thankfully, Amber was by Robin's side, and together, they overcame the big challenge. In 2012, the couple faced another difficulty when the TV personality was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).

Myelodysplastic Syndrome is a disease in which the bone marrow doesn't produce enough healthy blood cells. As a result, Robin was forced to undergo several sessions of chemotherapy.

Then, on September 20, 2012, Robin had a bone marrow transplant from her sister, Sally-Ann Roberts, after which she returned to Good Morning America in 2013.

That same year, Robin came out as a lesbian for the first time in a Facebook post and showed gratitude to a list of amazing people, including her "longtime girlfriend, Amber."

For the next couple of years, the lovebirds enjoyed a happy relationship, but in 2021, Robin and Amber faced another challenge when the latter was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Robin stood by her girlfriend, who went under the knife and received chemotherapy. Finally, in July 2022, Robin announced that Amber had completed her radiation treatment.

In January 2023, Robin left the public stunned when she announced that she and Amber had finally decided to take their romance to the next level by tying the knot.

The onscreen personality announced the news while interviewing author Gabby Bernstein About her book Super Super Attractor: Methods for Manifesting a Life Beyond Your Wildest Dreams in January.

During the interview, Gabby shared techniques for setting intentions in 2023 and asked Robin what she would say "yes" to this year.

At first, the journalist hesitated to answer but revealed, "I'm saying yes to marriage." Robin then noted that she and Amber had talked about it, but they had to put it off due to the latter's illness.

Thankfully, it all worked out, and now, the couple is more focused on their future together. Meanwhile, the date for the wedding is yet to be announced but the public look forward to Robin and Amber's big day.
