The weatherman said late last year that he had been hospitalized for blood clots in his legs and lungs after missing several days of the Today show.

He admitted, “I guess I know it now, I didn’t know it at the time. Deborah was great at keeping all that away from me so I thought I was doing OK but that was great because I was able to focus on getting better.”

When He Got Admitted

After being admitted to the hospital for the first time on November 18, Roker was brought back the day after Thanksgiving.

Deborah Was With Her Husband Through It All

At the time, an eyewitness reported that he had been taken away by ambulance while his distressed wife tried to break into their Tesla but it would not unlock its doors so she could get her phone and follow her husband to a hospital in Manhattan.

Deborah Was Willing To Break Her Car's Window Just To Meet Up With Her Husband

Roberts attempted to break the reinforced glass window on the front side of the car outside their Upper East Side house while locked out and was assisted by a neighbor. Unable to find her husband, Roberts took a taxi to meet him.

On Getting To The Hospital

The day after Thanksgiving, on Friday, Al was brought back to the hospital on a stretcher from a house. His condition was concerning, but once he was back in the hospital, the witness informed the outlet, he got better.

He returned back to work the first week of January, where he stated that he lost "half [his] blood" during his "life-threatening" medical crisis.

How He Lost Blood

“I lost half my blood. They were trying to figure out where it was,” he recalled of his hospitalization and internal bleeding, joking that he “went in for one operation [and] got four free.”

Roker's medical team had to resection his colon, remove his gallbladder, and reconstruct his duodenum in his small intestine after learning he had two bleeding ulcers.

When Roker was released from the hospital in time for Thanksgiving in November 2022, he was rushed back a few days later. Roker acknowledged his hospitalization in a post on Instagram.

Where Roker Got Married

The couple wed at Manhattan's St. Thomas Episcopal Church in 1995 in front of relatives and well-known friends after first connecting in 1990 when Roberts joined NBC's Today as a correspondent. Among the attendees were Katie Couric and Barbara Walters.

When They Went On Their First Date

Although having met two years earlier, Roker and Roberts didn't go on a date until 1992. From 1984 until their separation in 1992, Roker was wed to his first wife, Alice Bell.

How They Met

Roker previously revealed how he met Roberts on The Kelly Clarkson Show, saying that his future wife had asked him to watch after her apartment while she was in Barcelona covering the Summer Olympics for NBC.

Their Kids

Leila Ruth, the couple's daughter, was born on November 17, 1998. Roberts' first kid was Leila, and Roker had a daughter named Courtney from a previous marriage. Nicholas, their second child, was born on July 18, 2002.
