The ‘Teen Mom’ alum Ryan Edwards is facing some serious legal trouble. He was recently arrested in Hamilton County, Tennessee, for a violation of the law. Read on for all the details.
The 35-year-old actor has been convicted of stalking and violating a court order issued by his ex-wife MacKenzie. She filed for a divorce two days prior to the arrest, and also obtained a restraining order, which Ryan failed to adhere to.
Mackenzie was awarded a restraining order, as well as custody of her two children, Jagger and Stella, who are 5 and 2 years old, respectively. The custody is temporary, as per a March 1 press release.
On the 9th of February, MacKenzie contacted Hamilton County’s sheriff and successfully presented Ryan with an Order of Protection. He was forced to vacate MacKenzie’s residence without the custody of the kids.
Ryan was caught contacting his father-in-law, which was classified as a violation of the Order of Protection.
When Ryan’s failure to comply with the Order of Protection was being investigated, the police made a shocking discovery. They discovered that the Chattanooga Police Department had an active warrant for harassing MacKenzie against Ryan.
As the police found out, the Teen Mom star has an entire criminal history. The authorities found his possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as two bags of supposed narcotics. This meant that, in total, Ryan was arrested for drug possession, along with a controlled substance, harassment, violation of an order of protection, and stalking.
After running the investigation, the police took him to the Silverdale Detention Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
This isn’t the first time Ryan has been arrested, either. Once, he was detained with charges of theft of services. Apparently, he walked out of a bar without paying what he owed, and the bartender called the police on him.
Even before all this drama took place, Ryan was charged with the possession of heroin. He was arrested in March of 2018, after which he was arrested twice for violating his probation which stemmed from said possession.
The actor has a history of drug abuse that he’s certainly not proud of. He missed the birth of his son Jagger due to his treatment.
Before MacKenzie, Ryan was committed to Maci Bookout. When questioned about her own thoughts on his substance issues, she told US Weekly that she’d stopped worrying about his situation because it was no longer her concern after their split.
Bookout revealed that when he was arrested for violating his probation in 2018, she was being harassed by Ryan. She issued a restraining order against him at the time.
Initially, MacKenzie didn’t make much of Ryan’s addiction. She was still settling into being his wife and so denied the seriousness of the issue.
During the course of their relationship, Ryan checked into rehab more than one time. He couldn’t be present when Jagger was born because of his struggle.
Even after rehab, Ryan didn’t seem to be improving. His arrests for the possession of drugs weren’t slowing down.
Tons of social media drama later, MacKenzie has decided to divorce her husband of almost 6 years. She has already filed for divorce, which will be tested in court sometime later this year.
There may be a trial for the charges soon. For now, Ryan is in detention to prevent him from causing further harm to his wife and children’s lives.
Mackenzie is staying at her Hamilton County residence along with the children. She will be taking all necessary steps to ensure their safety.
The sentence hasn’t been finalized yet, so it’s unclear how long Ryan will be staying in detention.
