Bette Midler has finally accepted undergoing cosmetic procedures on her face after shutting down such rumors for a long time.
The confirmation took place at last night’s Guild Awards ceremony, where Midler received the Distinguished Collaborator Award.
The 77-year-old star expressed in her acceptance speech that “time has a way of smoothing everything out.”
She further continued, “I’ve been at it for close to 60 years … and I do look fabulous, I know,” and then finally confirmed all past plastic surgery rumors stating, “I’ve had some tailoring done on my face.”
Despite her suspiciously smooth skin and incorruptible appearance, the actress had never spoken out about going under the knife until last night.
Previously, cosmetic surgery experts speculated that Bette Midler had received a facelift, along with facial fillers and Botox injections.
While the actress neither specified nor confirmed the expert theories, she did verify the rumors about altering her appearance.
In 2008, the Hocus Pocus actress revealed that she was giving plastic surgery some serious thought.
She expressed her opinion at the time, stating, "Doesn't everybody consider it? When it really starts to cave in, I probably will start to give it a real good think."
Bette received the award from her dear friend and designer Michael Kaplan, who revealed a past instance in his introductory speech where the actress was mistaken as an employee of the Sears department store.
The designer told the audience that as he returned from the dressing room to return to his waiting friend, he realized that customers had mistaken her for a clerk, with one customer coming up to her and saying, “Miss, I have three dresses to try on.”
Shifting to Bette’s response to this whole situation, he stated, “Was she peeved? Not in the slightest. She replied, "Dressing room number three is free, hun.”
