Heath Ledger's Daughter Matilda a Spitting Image of the Late Actor

On Sunday last week, the 17-year-old who shares a striking resemblance to her father, Heath Ledger, was spotted, in what is a rare instance, taking a stroll in NYC.

Matilda kept her outing casual in a blue hoodie topped with an oversized tan jacket and paired with flannel trousers and gray sneakers.

She kept her blonde hair - another feature she shares with her late father- loose, covered by the hood, and placed her belongings in a black tote, hanging loosely on her right hand.

Heath Ledger passed away in 2008, at just 28 years of age, following acute drug intoxication.

The late actor met Michelle Williams on the set of “Brokeback Mountain” when the two fell in love and had Matilda in 2005.

Matilda was only two years old when her father passed away, and soon after his death, her mother, Michelle Williams, made every attempt to raise her daughter away from the public eye.

Michelle and Matilda left their residence in Brooklyn and moved upstate to a farmhouse in New York.

The actress revealed that she wanted some normalcy and a “sane home environment” for Matilda, as the spotlight fell directly on the mother-daughter duo after Heath’s death.

In 2015, Kim Ledger, Heath’s father, spoke about his granddaughter and the similarities she shares with his late son, “She is always full of questions, and she always wants to know this or that about her dad, and I suppose that will just get more intense when she gets older, and we would welcome that.”

He further told Channel 10’s The Project, “She is very inquisitive, which he was, she has an enormous number of his mannerisms, she's got his energy because Heath never slept from when he was two. And Matilda is like that, she is a ball of energy, and she radiates this aura that Heath was like."

Matilda’s grandmother, Sally added her own opinion about her granddaughter saying, “Matilda is indeed very much like her dad — she has long limbs and similar features. However, she also possesses the beauty of her mamma — lucky girl.”

Even the late actor’s sister commented about her niece being “very much like her daddy in many ways."

Now at 17, Matilda plans to take a long holiday to Australia to learn more about her father’s family before starting college.

Heaths’s family have expressed their wishes to meet Matilda more often, whom they lovingly call by the name of “little New Yorker.”

With Matilda about to finish high school soon, she’s going to take a gap year to facilitate her plans for Australia.

While Matilda seems to have her plans in place, her mother does not share the same excitement since Perth is “just so far away.”

Matilda understands where her mother is coming from, but she eagerly wants to “understand the other side of her heritage,” a source reveals.

On the other hand, Heath’s family is beyond “thrilled” at the news of their granddaughter’s long trip to Perth.

After Heath died, it became known that Matilda was nowhere in his will. However, her grandfather, Kim Ledger, signed off all his son’s assets, estimated at around $16.3 million, to Matilda.
