Jamie Lee Curtis Celebrates 2023 SAG Awards Win With A Kiss From Michelle Yeoh!

Yeoh and Curtis earned nominations for their role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, held on Sunday, February 26. Curtis earned a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture alongside her on-screen daughter, Stephanie Hsu.

In a not-so-shocking turn of events (because it was a close call), Yeoh won the award for the supporting role over fan-favorite Angela Bassett (nominated for Wakanda Forever). Curtis was also surprised at her win that she reacted with a big peck on Yeoh's lips.

"Shut Up!" Curtis yelled while embracing the Malaysian actress before planting a kiss on her lips. Watch the moment below.

Yeoh and her co-star have been attending award events together including the Golden Globes ceremony where Yeoh won Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. Curtis' reaction to Yeoh's win was equally electrifying as she cheered from the sidelines.

This SAG Award was Curtis' first win, although her first nomination was in 1995, and she's been active in the industry since 1977.

As the daughter of industry greats, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, the 64-year-old always felt like people didn't respect her talent enough, and she shared that in her acceptance speech.

Curtis said,

The Nepo Baby debate started last year when netizens debated about celebrities' children toeing the same career lines as their parents and whether they deserved their successes.

Although Curtis isn't a new generation Nepo Baby (her grandchildren are), she faced similar scrutiny rising in her career. She earned her first Oscar nomination for her supporting role this year.

Curtis' was Yeoh's lover in some alternative universes of Everything Everywhere All at Once and her tax officer in her real universe. It's an absurdist comedy that fused elements from sci-fi, animation, and kung fu into its production.

The Sci-Fi action movie was refreshingly different and a cinematic masterpiece such that critics had only good things to say about it.

Rotten Tomatoes rated it 95 percent, Vudu scored it 4.4/5, and IMDb gave it an 8/10 rating. It's also an audience favorite because it garnered over $100 million on a $14.3 - 25 million budget.

Last year, the movie arrived on Amazon Prime's streaming platform and reached its most-streamed list.

EEAO as fans fondly call won four SAG Awards including ensemble cast, lead actress which made Yeoh the trailblazing Asian woman in the category, and Supporting Male Actor for Ke Huy Quan.

The movie earned a total of 404 nominations and has won more than half, including major awards like the BAFTAs (it won Best Editing only), Critics Choice (five wins), and the Golden Globes (two wins).

EEAO is the most-nominated movie at this year's Academy Awards, including the big categories from Best Picture to Best Director, Best Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Screenplay, Original Score, Original Song, Costume Design, and Editing.

The Oscars are still pending but critics favor Everything Everywhere All at Once for groundbreaking wins this year.

Although no Oscar-nominated movie has snagged more than three acting awards, and the highest Best Picture winner snagged six awards, EEAO may break the jinx. It's only a week left until we know EEAO's fate at the 2023 Oscars on Mar. 7.

Meanwhile Curtis promises to return to absurdist comedy by releasing the second part of Freaky Friday with Lindsay Lohan.
