Rapper Da Brat, 48, and her wife Jessica Judy Harris-Dupart are expecting their first child together. They broke the news to people first and discussed their desire and journey toward motherhood.
“It has been quite a journey”, said Dupart. “We have learned a lot about women over the age of 40.”
When you have crossed the age of 40, it becomes very difficult for women to get pregnant. We are curious to know how she has managed her health so well!
The couple started their road to engaging in parenthood right after they tied the knot last year in February. Harris-Dupart, 41, was also launching her hair care line Kaleidoscope Hair Products at the time.
The couple joked about ‘extending their family’ as they launched the business. The hair care products were inspired by Dupart Harris’ wife’s lovely braids and hairstyles. If this isn’t love, then we don’t know what is.
Yes, it did start as a little joke for them but then the couple realized how much they wanted to have kids. Soon after this realization, they began their journey toward parenthood.
Da Brat was always worried that she may not have kids as she never got pregnant before. Her wife already had three children from previous relationships.
Da Brat said. "I felt like, because I didn't get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn't going to happen for me." She was very worried about this and felt hopeless.
"I started looking at life so differently," she added, mentioning that Harris-Dupart helped change her outlook on motherhood. "I was like, I want a little me with you. Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally."
Da Brat was a little reluctant to carry out the pregnancy but they reached the conclusion that Da Brat will be carrying the baby. Harris-Dupart was already facing some health issues due to her egg retrieval process.
“She Is so nurturing, I want her to have the experience”, Said Dupart-Harris
Da Brat had never experienced pregnancy before, which is an essential part of motherhood and helps you bond with the baby. Her wife really wanted Da Brat to feel this amazing journey.
Da Brat had to undergo surgery prior to getting pregnant to remove fibroids and polyps in her uterus. These are benign and non-cancerous growths but have a negative impact on a woman’s pregnancy and delivery.
A miscarriage is one of the most painful experiences ever. Our beloved Da Brat had just experienced it.
"I had never been so excited about something that I didn't even know I wanted," she said. "I fell in love with the idea and then it was all snatched away from me."
Despite losing hope at the time, they did not stop trying. They continued with the few eggs they had left and used a donor for pregnancy.
The couple does not give up and continues trying for another baby. Da Brat is now 18 weeks pregnant and says it is a blessing.
Da Brat calls pregnancy an exciting experience. “Everything makes me cry,” she said.
The couple is very excited now to have their miraculous rainbow baby. They are more than thrilled to be entering motherhood and having their own kids.
Their marriage life is stronger than ever, and we are here for it! Both of them cannot seem to keep their hands off each other.
After that super long journey, we just want to wish the best of luck to this couple. We cannot wait to see what’s next with them!
