After receiving a diagnosis of a malignant brain tumor, he underwent emergency surgery. Although Zen recovered from surgery, his health started to decline around Thanksgiving, and on December 5, he passed away.

Recently, Cannon acknowledged his regret over not being able to spend enough time with each of his children, individually.
