The star referenced ageism and misogyny as causes of the uproar. She also talked about how people refuse to celebrate women past the age of 45 and constantly feel the need to punish them if they continue to be "strong-willed, hard-working and adventurous."
Madonna confirmed that she wouldn't even dream of apologizing for her creative choices — she has never done it before, and she is not doing it now. Although the star has felt degraded from the moment she became famous, she sees this as a hurdle she needs to cross to make the experience easier for future generations of women.
