Jane Fonda is living proof of the importance of staying fit. Even at 85, she still manages to keep fit. In 1979, the actress created the Jane Fonda Workout, and 44 years later, the Grace and Frankie star is still promoting the advantages of working up a sweat.

The fitness enthusiast graced the opening of H&M's Move Studio in Brooklyn on Wednesday, and of course, she didn't fail to speak on what she's most passionate about.

The 85-year-old actress shocked everyone at the event when she said:

"You have to be able to, you know, make love, I don't remember much [about that], but do I remember you need flexibility!"

The Face Of The H&M Move Campaign

Four decades after she made leotards fashionable for suburban women, the actress, who has always emphasized the value of exercise, was selected as the face of the H&M Move campaign last year, and she is still lauding the benefits of getting up and moving.

Her Abilities At 85

Fonda said the following when it comes to exercising:

"You've got to stay strong. I have a grandson who is three years old, and I can still pick him up. I mean, I have to bend my knees and, you know, it takes a long time to get him up there, but I can still pick him up. You want to be able to carry your own bags."

She Started Working Out At 30

The Barbarella actress, however, wasn't always an avid exerciser. It wasn't until she was in her late 30s that she began exercising.

"I didn't know that it was important to do 'til I was in my 30s. I had a 'constant period' all during school so that I couldn't do gym — anything to get out of gym." "It wasn't until my late 30s [or] early 40s that I started to actually become active and life before I was active, it wasn't nearly as good as when I started to move."

Exercising Helped Her Mood

And Fonda's passion for physical fitness wasn't just sparked by her flexibility. She also noticed that it improved her mood.

She recalled coming from a long line of really depressed people, and the best way to fight depression was to "keep moving."

On Overcoming Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

The 9 to 5 star revealed in December that her non-Hodgkin lymphoma, discovered in September, was in remission. She revealed to Elle Magazine all about how she overcame it!

The Dangers Of Wanting To Be Skinny

She also revealed in the interview the dangers of wanting to be skinny. The actress, who has been open about her struggle with the eating disorder bulimia, said she still does her exercises. However, the goal is to be healthy, not skinny.

The Risk Of Being Bone Thin

Wanting to be bone thin is not good. It's not good for your health, and it's not good for your mind to be that deprived. Someone who's in bed with you might not like it either, because you can get hurt on those hipbones!"

Fonda Is Thankful For Sticking To Her Workout

In the end, though, Fonda is thankful to God that she has been dedicated to working out for more than 40 years.
