The couple organized the heartwarming ceremony at their new home, cementing their love one more time in the presence of TV momager, Kris Jenner, who officiated. DeGeneres and her longtime partner also had power couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in attendance.

In what posed as a surprise to TV icon Degeneres, she and her wife renewed their affirmation of love for each other. de Rossi looked lovely in her old wedding dress from when she first walked down the aisle with DeGenres in 2008. However, The Ellen DeGeneres Show star looked more casual in khaki pants, a checkered vest, and a blue jacket. The occasion had been de Rossi's birthday but it ended up being a vow renewal party.
DeGeneres Flaunted The Happy Moment On Social Media
Taking to her Instagram feed, the TV personality let fans in on the moment she and the Sirens actress stood in awe of each other, just like the first time they tied the knot. The clips showed de Rossi walking through a crowd that had gathered for her birthday and vow renewal.
She walked up to DeGeneres, whose mouth was agape from the realization of what was going on. During the duration of the clip, the couple could be seen holding long-stemmed flowers while staring into each other's eyes. DeGeneres captioned her post:
"Portia surprised me at her birthday party by renewing our vows. Thank you @KrisJenner for officiating and @BrandiCarlile for performing, and Portia for being the greatest gift to me, even on your birthday."
Kris Jenner Gushed About The Couple
Jenner, who dressed for her part in a white coat and leather slacks, read from a piece of paper while overseeing the event. In a video posted to DeGeneres' YouTube, The Kardashians star could be seen gushing about the love the standup comedian shared with her wife. Jenner noted that the pair "were born for each other," as she relayed how she and her longtime boyfriend Corey Gamble spent a lot of time with them.
The KUWTK executive producer referred to DeGeneres and de Rossi as "couple goals" who "continue to amaze me with how cute they are together." Jenner showed she was a big fan as she referred to the lovebirds as two peas in a pod. She relayed that their love and commitment to each other made her so happy. After her reflection on the love the star couple shares, Jenner beckoned on de Rossi to share a few words.
de Rossi Wanted Her Birthday To Be Extra Special
The Ally McBeal actress recalled how she wanted her birthday to be special. de Rossi noted that plans reminded her that her wife was the most important person to her. She told DeGeneres, "I was thinking about my life, my accomplishments, as you do when you have a big birthday, and it all just kept leading back to you and I thought, what greater accomplishment can I ever, ever, ever have than being loved by someone who is so magnificent."
de Rossi Is Excited About Their Future Together
Still speaking on the love they shared, the Scream 2 actress noted how she was excited for what the future held for them as they get to do whatever they choose for the rest of their lives. de Rossi noted that she felt so lucky to be with someone who accepts her for who she is. She concluded her touching speech by saying that she was honored to be DeGeneres' wife.
The Couple's Love Story
DeGeneres and de Rossi have known each other for over two decades and this includes coming out of the closet. Once, speaking with Oprah Winfrey, de Rossi explained that she was on Ally McBeal when she met the love of her life.
However, she could not openly express her feelings at the time because she was "closeted." The actress relayed that it would have been the end of her career to date "the most famous lesbian in the world." They would meet again in 2004, and not long after, start dating.
How They Sealed Their Love In Marriage
After de Rossi and DeGeneres started their romance, it would be many years later before same-sex marriage became legalized. However, this did not stop them from taking their relationship forward in 2008. The TV host popped the question a few months ahead of them walking down the aisle, and they became a beacon of hope for other same-sex partners. Divorce rumors threatened their institution of marriage, but the couple sailed through and emerged stronger than ever.
