'Buffy the Vampire Slayer': Sarah Michelle Gellar Reveals Dolly Parton As A Secret Producer

Gellar told Jimmy Fallon during her interview on his late-night show that Parton sent the castmates personalized holiday gifts. It never made sense to her because she didn't know about Parton's involvement in the series production.

Parton's love and care for the crew and cast exceeded sending gift cards as one of the executives, Gail Berman, revealed that the singer paid her extra money after learning she made significantly less than her male counterparts.

However, when the country music singer discussed it in an interview and praised Gellar's performance, the actress thanked her stars that someone famous recognized her talent. Later, she discovered, Parton was a co-founder of the production company, Sandallor Productions, which spearheaded the Buffy verse.

Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, was a late-night TV show which premiered in the later nineties and ended in the early 2000s. It was a supernatural tale of angels, demons, and vampires living in the fictional town of Sunnydale in California.

Gellar, the lead actress, was the titular character who learned about her vampire-slaying destiny and spent the rest of the seasons facing the demons and vampires attacking the people of Sunnydale.

Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, was a spinoff of the 1992 movie Buffy and performed well per critics. With over Eighty percent ratings across the board, the production company created a Buffy-verse filled with spin-offs. The franchise contains television shows, comics, novels, games, podcasts, magazines, action figures, and collectibles.

Although the production team planned to reboot the series in 2018, several developmental problems caused them to pause production indefinitely in August 2022. The first successful spinoff from the series featuring David Boreanaz was Angel. 

Angel started in 1999 after the events of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in Season Four. Later the company released an animated series that also performed well based on ratings.

Some fan favorites returned to voice their characters in the animated series from Boreanaz to Charisma Carpenter and Alyson Hannigan.

Gellar's performance as Buffy catapulted her into the spotlight and helped her land other classic roles. She became one of the top stars of the late Nineties and early 2000s starring in fan favorites from Scooby-Doo to I Know What You Did Last Summer and Cruel Intentions alongside Reese Witherspoon.
