Stephanie Seymour is opening up for the first time about the death of her son, Harry Brant.
In her first interview and photoshoot since Harry died from an accidental overdose two years ago, the ‘90s supermodel, 54, talks about grieving, healing, and keeping the memory of her third-born child alive.
Seymour is the cover story of WSJ. Magazine's Spring Women’s Fashion Issue, where she gets candid about coping with her loss.
“If I think that Harry would love something, I do it, and it does help me with my grief,” she says.
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel says she still keeps some of her son’s clothes, and even wears them.
“It still feels so good to put his clothes on,” she adds.
For her WSJ. photoshoot, she sported Harry’s favorite outfit, a Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane suit.
“It's a suit that I keep hanging in my dressing room,” she says in her interview.
“I looked at that suit one night and I said, ‘I'm going to put it on.’ It fit me,” Seymour continues. She explains that she has “huge trunks” of his things and that she wants to keep photographing his clothes because “he would love it.”
The California-born beauty shared a love of fashion with Harry. In the story, she reminisces about his elementary school days, when she would let him pick out her outfits for parent-teacher conferences.
There was a time when he chose a vintage Christian Dior dress and Manolo Blahnik shoes. When Seymour said she couldn’t wear vintage couture to a parent-teacher conference, he simply said, “Why not?”
Harry, who was Seymour’s son with billionaire industrialist Peter Brant, died on January 17, 2021, from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. He was 24 years old.
The supermodel married Brant in 1995. They have two other children – Peter Jr. and Lily – in addition to five kids with his first wife and a son with her first husband.
She also reveals in her interview that her grandkids have been her anchor.
“A lot of people say, ‘Well, they're not your grandchildren. They’re Peter's grandchildren,’" she says. "But they don't feel that way, and neither do I. Nothing has given me more comfort than those kids calling me Grandma Stephanie.”
