NFL star Jessie Lemonier who was a former team member of the Detroit Lions has passed away. Lemoier who played as a linebacker for the team was 25 years old.

NFL Star Jessie Lemonier Is Dead

The Detroit Lions took to their official page on social media letting football fans know that the player who formerly played for the team has passed away. The announcement was made on Thursday morning.

The writeup described the athlete as a "model teammate" and a "wonderful young man" who was gone "far too soon." The team also showed their love for the family of the deceased.

The Cause Of His Death Is Unclear

According to TMZ, there isn't much information on the cause of the young player's death presently, and the Lions did not reveal much in their announcement. However, reports showed that Lemonier who would have turned 26 in a few days' time, was expecting a child with his girlfriend.

Fresh out of Liberty University, Lemonier was an undrafted player and free agent when he earned himself an accolade. He became the third player in the Flames' history to record more than 10 sacks in a football season.

In 2020, Lemonier caught the attention of the Los Angeles Chargers, and he joined the team. The sports star played for six seasons before being waived in August 2021. By September of the same year, he signed with the Lions' practice squad. he was soon promoted to the active roster. Lemonier's record with the Lions included seven games, 15 tackles, and 1.5 sacks which included the sack of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

After being waived, he was claimed by the Arizona Cardinals in March 2022. The late player was part of the Cardinals in the off-season before being released in August. He was drafted by the XFL's Arlington Renegades in 2023. However, he signed with the USFL's Houston Gamblers and was tared to Birmingham for quarterback Montell Cozart. He was supposed to play for the team in the spring.

Lemonier who was a native of Hialeah in Florida is the younger brother of former San Francisco and Auburn player, Corey Lemonier. Corey was a third-round pick in 2013. Just like his younger brother, Corey played for the Lions. He was also a team member of the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets.

Breiden Fehoko who plays as Chargers' defensive end reminisced about Lemonier's time in the team while paying final respects. The duo had played together during their rookie season in 2020. Fehoko penned, "My brother man," Fehoko tweeted. "We came into the league together and had to battle through everything rookie year to get where we are. You were always filled with life bro. I LOVE YOU, BRO!"

The grieving athlete concluded his post by sharing a thought-provoking sentence. He addressed fans and social media users by penning, "Please check on your people. PLEASE."

NFL champion and Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson posted a photo of Lemonier on Instagram while sharing some praying hands emojis. Hugh Freeze who coached Lemoiers at liberty revealed he was heartbroken by the news of the player's death. He described him as "one of the most intense players and incredible teammates" that he ever coached.

Joey Keller who was Lemonier's friend back at liberty made it known that there was no one he worked more with than the player. He described him as someone who was always "smiling, laughing, and raising up the people around him."
