80s Icons Dolly Parton, Gloria Estefan, And More Join Forces for New Song!

The women dressed in customized jerseys for their music video and delivered an almost four minute pop rendition of Gonna Be You. They got the empowering lyrics from one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Diane Warren.

The movie 80 for Brady is a tale of friendship between four senior women, Rita Moreno, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Sally Field. It's set in 2017 during the Super Bowl when Tom Brady played for the New England Patriots.

The sports comedy shows them getting into a world of interesting trouble as they plan a road trip to meet their favorite NFL players. It also stars top players, Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady.

Warren described the inspiration for her lyrics, saying it was about celebrating deep women friendships. The idea to get the best singers from the Eighties came from the movie's title, and Warren didn't think everyone she asked would agree to the plan.

Carlisle said getting the call from Warren changed her mind about retirement. Her son met the songwriter randomly at a Starbucks, and they exchanged contacts. The other ladies also had chance meetings with Warren; the rest is history.

The songwriter said the song is going to be an all-time karaoke favorite amongst girlfriends. The song came out four days ago in anticipation of the official movie coming this February.

The song's release comes after the announcement of Estefan's impending induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Parton is already an inductee following the ceremony last year.

The women from 80 for Brady are already making press tours to discuss the making of the movie. They discussed becoming friends and maintaining their bond despite being very busy with their individual lives.

The other women on the soundtrack have big projects coming and remain relevant even though they're past their glory days. Lauper performed at the White House last year, and Carlisle is returning to pop this year and the next one.
