On January 22, 2023, the Presley family held a public memorial service for the late Lisa Marie Presley. Many celebrities were in attendance. One of those in attendance was Canadian-American singer and songwriter Alanis Morissette, who gave an emotional tribute. Find out more below.

Alanis Pays Tribute Through Music

At Lisa's memorial, which took place at the Meditation Garden in Elvis Presley's Boulevard Estate in Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee, Alanis paid her last respects to the late legendary singer with a musical tribute — a rendition of her song, Rest.

Alanis' Song Was Powerful And Comforting

The Grammy Award-winning singer graced the stage clad in a black coat, sporting loose brunette curls. She gave a powerful rendition of the song, wearing a sad look while being accompanied by a pianist. Overall, it was an emotional piece that comforted the Presley family.

Alanis First Performed The Song At A Memorial

The attendees at Lisa's memorial are not the first individuals to hear Alanis' rendition of the song. The songstress first performed Rest at the memorial of American singer and songwriter Linkin Park's Chester Bennington, who died in 2017.

Why Was The Song Written?

The song was reportedly written for people who struggle with depression, anxiety, isolation, suicidal ideation, and the profound despair that mental illness can plunge anyone into.

Axl Rose Pays His Last Respects

Alanis was only one of the many musicians who paid tribute to Lisa through music. Axl Rose also performed a solo rendition of Guns N' Roses' November Rain. However, before his performance, the singer addressed the attendees in an emotional speech.

Axl began by noting that never in a million years did he imagine singing under those circumstances — Lisa's memorial. Next, he disclosed that he was certain the late icon loved her family very much and was protective of her father, Elvis, and his legacy.

Tributes From Family Members

Besides Alanis, Axl, and other celebrities, tributes to Lisa came from the Presley family members. During the memorial, Lisa's mother, Priscilla, shared a poem written by one of the singer's 14-year-old daughters. In the poem, the teenager calls her mom an icon, a role model, and a superhero.

The poem also noted that Lisa knew she wouldn't be alive for too long, adding that many believed a broken heart killed her, in reference to Lisa's son's death in 2020. To wrap it up, Priscilla noted that everyone's hearts were broken, further telling Lisa she was loved. Also, the singer's daughter Riley was not left out as she penned an emotional eulogy for her mom. May Lisa's soul rest in peace.
