The Australian actress shared the news with her fans and friends on Instagram. The post contained a picture of the actress with her dad on a date and was accompanied by a lengthy caption.
"How do you live without someone that you can't live without?" she wrote.
She described him as "hilarious, positive" and her best friend who was there for her no matter the situation. The actress called herself "lucky" to have been Brian's daughter.
Grieving Fisher concluded the post by acknowledging that her pain would get worse as the days goes by, and also thanked him for being a good father.
"I know this pain is going to get worse as the days between when i last saw you increase, and that is very scary, I love you so much. Thank you for being the greatest father."
The actress who had a "great" upbringing in Perth, Australia revealed she's maintained a very close relationship with her family.
The 46-year-old was originally born in Oman, but grew up in Perth, after which she moved back to Australia with her family.
The Scooby-Doo actress met her husband Sacha Baron Cohen at a party in Sydney in 2002 and then tied the knot eight years later in 2010.
In 2021, the Keeping Up With The Joneses star penned down a hearty and emotional tribute to her father on her Instagram account.
"This is my dad, Poppa Fish," she wrote in the caption accompanied by a black and white throwback photo to her Instagram account.
Quite the "daddy's girl," the actress continued, "I love him, he's the greatest, and I am so thankful to have him in my life."
The news of her father's death comes after the talented actress spilled some deets about her extremely busy family life to Australian Women's Weekly.
"One of the perks of being an actor is you have a bunch of silly voices in your back pocket to whip out at bedtime."
The talented actress continued in the interview.
"If somebody is having a problem at school or something, I'll tailor the bedtime story a little bit to align with whatever's going on."
Fisher and Cohen share three children: Olive, 14, Elula, 10, and Montgomery, 5.
Fans have stormed her comment section with sweet words of encouragement and condolences for the actress over the loss of her father.
"Oh my love I’m so very very sorry," while a second added, "Oh my heart is broken for you sweet Isla. I am sending you All of my love and healing".
Fans noticed the striking resemblance between Brian and Cohen's controversial movie character in "The Original Borat" after she posted a birthday pic of him in 2021. They suggested Brian was his muse when he created Borat.
The actress, however, denied the claims but admitted that her father is just a "very dapper gent expressing himself through a lot of facial hair."
