Christina Applegate Shuts Down Online Trolls Who Went After Her Looks

Since then, Applegate has been adjusting to her situation. She has said she is disappointed with her prognosis but is hopeful there will be a cure soon enough for her to retrieve her good health. After the announcement, she took some time off acting and stayed out of the public eye.

Meanwhile, she has been very open with her diagnosis and even talked about it on The Kelly Clarkson Show on December 2022. In the interview, she commented she uses humor as a coping mechanism, "I do it to kind of deflect and then also make people not be scared around me," she added.

A few days ago, Christina shared on her Twitter how excited she was to attend this year's Critics Choice Awards ceremony on January 15th. This was Applegate's first awards show since 2019 and her first public appearance since she announced her diagnosis.

She went in the company of her 11-year-old daughter, Sadie. They matched in black outfits while Christina proudly used a glam cane; during the night, she was photographed with other celebrities, including Julia Roberts. She was nominated for her role as Jen Harding in Dead To Me for Best Actress in a Comedy Series but unfortunately didn't win.

Two days after the ceremony, the actress shared a message from an online troll who was criticizing her looks. They told her her face looked that way because of bad plastic surgery and not because of MS.

Still, Christina has shared several times before how the diagnosis has caused her physical appearance to change drastically. This was a topic of conversation after her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony right when she gained forty pounds.

"This is the first time anyone's going to see me the way I am," she stated.

"I'm never going to accept this; I'm pissed," Applegate said about MS. Still, fans online dismissed the troll's comments and defended Christina while feeling her profile of encouraging words. She decided to take it with humor and said she laughed at the message.
