Jeremy Renner continues to recover from injuries he sustained in a snowplow accident, but sources have revealed that his condition is worse than what was previously reported.

The 52-year-old Marvel star was clearing snow from his Reno, Nevada property on New Year’s Day when he was run over by the heavy equipment.

'He Almost Died Out There'

The insiders told Radar Online that Renner’s injuries were “much worse than anyone knows.”

They added, “Jeremy is very aware of the fact that he almost died out there.”

The Extent Of His Injuries

The sources described the extent of the S.W.A.T. actor’s injuries, saying, “The right side of Jeremy’s chest was crushed, and his upper torso had collapsed. He also had a bad head wound that was bleeding and a leg injury.”

The Moments After The Accident

Renner reportedly bled profusely while waiting to be airlifted to the hospital. He was conscious and experienced extreme pain and breathing difficulties. According to the insiders, he knew “that he might not make it out of this.”

His Chest Was Surgically Reconstructed

He was brought to the hospital and reportedly had to have his chest reconstructed surgically due to the extent of the damage. The sources added it might take two years before he recovers completely.

He Will Require More Treatment

Renner has had two surgeries and “will likely require more in the weeks ahead on his leg,” the sources explained, adding that he also had tubes to help him breathe. Despite his horrific injuries, they assured fans he was doing alright and focused on healing.

Getting A Lot Of TLC

In the meantime, he’s getting a lot of TLC from his mom, Valerie Cearley, and sister, Kym Renner, who have been with him around the clock since his accident.

Renner’s accident occurred when he was trying to clear snow from his driveway using a 14,330-pound PistenBully snowplow following a New Year’s Day celebration with his family.

How It Happened

He got out to speak with a family member, at which point the snowplow started to roll by itself. It ran over him when he tried to get back in the driver’s seat.

On January 3, Renner gave his first update via a selfie taken from his hospital bed and posted on Instagram. “Thank you all for your kind words. 🙏. Im too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all,” he wrote.
