Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon called it quits over six years ago, but they shared joint custody of their twins, Moroccan (Roc) and Monroe (Roe) Cannon.
Since their divorce, Cannon has moved on with several women and had children with them, bringing the total number of his wards to 11.
Carey filed for primary custody of her twins, citing her ex-husband's multiple children as a valid cause.
The We Belong Together singer wants the law's backing since she's the de facto primary caregiver to the twins. As a father of 11, Cannon can't be present 100 percent in all his children's lives, and Carey doesn't want that for her twins.
Per sources speaking to HotNewHipHop, the legal move from the "Queen of Christmas" is a wake-up call for her ex-husband. She expects him to make a stance or realize he can't have a partial relationship with Roc and Roe.
"She wants to put him on notice that he can't just flit in and out of their lives while he attends to his other children."
Despite Carey's claims, Cannon insists he's active and present in all his children's lives during an interview with Andy Cohen last year. The Watch What Happens Live host asked Cannon if he planned to get a vasectomy, and he said no.
Cannon clarified his stance saying he didn't have a plan except to be active and present while enjoying fatherhood. He also debunked any future possibility of getting a vasectomy saying,
"This is my body, my choice!"

Every time Cannon has a new child by one of his partners, the internet erupts in memes and jokes. He's used to the banter and even joins in occasionally. Some of his tweets and Instagram posts include an admission to repopulating the earth.
His children's mothers (apart from Carey) also praise his parenthood with one of them, saying Cannon is a better father than some of her married friends' husbands.
Cannon's last child came last December with Alyssa Scott who already had another child. Unfortunately, they lost the boy, Zen, a few weeks after birth.
Cannon's other children include Zion, Zillion, and Beautiful with Abby de la Rosa, Golden, Powerful, and Messiah, with Brittany Bell, Legendary Love with Brie Tiesi, and Onyx with Lanisha Cole.
On Christmas, Cannon shared a comedy sketch of himself struggling to get holiday gifts for all his children. On New Year's Eve, he also made a protective sex advertisement. He seems content, while Carey stresses about his relationship with their twins.
