The Golden Globe Awards were held on January 11, and Eddie Murphy's acceptance speech, which had the audience laughing hard, had to be the night's high point.

What A Joke

The 61-year-old star, who received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for "great contributions to the world of entertainment," brought down the house by making a joke about Smith after his address.

Eddie Murphy delivered a jab at Will Smith's infamous Oscar slap as he accepted the renowned Cecil B. DeMille trophy. Murphy provided a "definitive blueprint" for "success, prosperity, longevity, and peace of mind" to those listening as he concluded his otherwise earnest address.

Blueprint For Youngsters

The comedian concluded his somewhat somber speech by giving advise to upcoming young performers after taking stock of his four-decade career.

"I want to let you know that there is a definitive blueprint that you can follow to achieve success, prosperity, longevity and peace of mind,” Murphy softly stated. There’s a blueprint, and I followed it my whole career. It’s very simple, it’s three things. You just do these three things: Pay your taxes. Mind your business … And keep Will Smith’s wife’s name out of your f- -king mouth!”

Murphy raised his voice when giving his final piece of counsel, emulating Smith's on-stage outburst that dominated the Academy Awards the year before. At that event, Chris Rock, a comedian, joked about Jada Pinkett Smith's alopecia when the actor stormed the stage and smacked him.

Celebrities were seen in fits of laughter following Murphy's joke, and they gave the actor a standing ovation as he exited the stage.

But of course, we are referring to Eddie Murphy in this instance. He has been in the business for much too long to be unable to pique our interest.

We are not the only ones who laughed; Twitter users also found it amusing. One fan gushed:

"Eddie Murphy would be the only person to make a Will Smith joke that was actually funny.”

“Eddie stole the show. A legend forever.”

A different spectator remarked.

Nearly a year has passed since the incident in March 2022, when Will Smith hit the comedian Chris Rock (after he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's bald head), which is known as "the slap heard around the world."

However, Eddie is not the only one to refer to the attack. During one of the broadcast's commercial breaks, host Jerrod Carmichael also referenced that point the assault at one point.

Jada Pinkett Smith urged the two men to make amends in June 2022. In a video posted to his social media in July, Smith offered Rock his sincere apologies. Smith has also left the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and is no longer permitted to attend its awards shows for the next ten years as punishment for his actions.

The Cecil B. DeMille award, which Murphy received, is given to talented people for their exceptional achievements in the entertainment industry.
