Rihanna brought her signature glam to the 2023 Golden Globes.
The 34-year-old R&B superstar and fashion icon attended the A-list event, held on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, as a first-time nominee. Her song Lift Me Up, which was featured in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, received a nom for Best Original Song.
She might not have won that night but she definitely had all eyes on her thanks to the ultra-glam all-black outfit she chose.
The Fenty Beauty founder’s ensemble was from Schiaparelli Haute Couture and consisted of a ruched black bustier dress and a voluminous velvet cape with dramatic sleeves. She styled her look with ankle-strap sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti and a bejeweled purse by Roger Vivier.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Rihanna outfit without some dazzling bling. She accessorized with a Cartier diamond necklace and coordinating earrings, and finished everything off with a sculptural hairstyle and simple makeup.
RiRi opted to skip the red carpet but still made a head-turning entrance at the ceremony alongside her boyfriend A$AP Rocky, who was looking super elegant himself in a black suit.
Inside the venue, the Love the Way You Lie hitmaker posed for photos – both solo and with Rocky – and enjoyed the ceremony while getting shoutouts from presenters. Niecy Nash-Betts, who presented the award for Best Actress (Musical or Comedy), had a fangirling moment when she said onstage, “Rihanna, I love you and I dressed up as you for Halloween. I just had to say that.”
Rihanna has not been making a lot of red carpet appearances since giving birth to her and Rocky’s son in May 2022.
Last October, she attended the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – her first red carpet appearance post-pregnancy – wearing a strapless, sequined gown by Rick Owens.
For her Golden Globes nom, she faced fierce competition from the likes of Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and other talented artists.
Next month, the Grammy Award winner is set to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. She recently teased her appearance in a short clip posted to the NFL’s Instagram page.
