'Days of Our Lives' Actor Quinn Redeker Dead At 86

The beloved actor died on December 20th, 2022 in Los Angeles. Per NY Post, the TV legend died from natural causes. Redeker was known for his impeccable role as Alex Marshall in Days of Our Lives. He played the role for almost a decade from 1979 to 1987. Redeker played a villainous character who was later sent to prison for insurance fraud.

Another credit of the actor includes his role as Rex Sterling in The Young and the Restless. He acted in the soap opera from 1987 to 1994. After his death, the official Twitter account for The Young and the Restless wrote a tribute. Stating that Redeker was a blessing to "Y&R with his talents in two memorable roles."

Redeker had an active acting career and a lot of awards to prove his talents. He starred in shows like Fantasy Island, Sea Hunt, Barnaby Jones, Starsky & Hutch, Ironside, Adam-12, and That Girl, as well as others.

Aside from being a talented actor, Redeker was also a screenwriter. He was also nominated for an Academic Award for the screenplay of The Deer Hunter. He also received a story co-credit for the movie. The movie also won five Oscars out of nine, including Best Picture. Redeker's other film work includes 1979's The Electric Horsemen, 1972's The Candidate, and 1980's Ordinary People.

Redeker started his career as a stand-up comedian. After a while, he decided to study acting. In a few years, he was able to build his career and appeared in various television films. His most famous on-screen work was in Days of Our Lives. In the soap series, Redeker played Alex Marshall in 848 episodes from 1979 to 1987.

Other of his soap opera work include The Young and the Restless. He starred as different characters in 221 episodes from 1979 to 2004. For his role as Rex Sterling in The Young and the Restless, he earned two Daytime Emmy Award nominations. That was in 1989 and 1990 for outstanding supporting actors. Redeker was last seen on screen in his role as a SWAT officer in 2012's Harry's Law.

He was active in his career from 1960 to 2022. Redeker received a Soap Opera Digest Award. From 1958 to 1959 he was married to Suzanne Elizabeth Long.

He later married actress Patricia Ann Graves from 1963 to 1980. They also had four children together. Redeker is survived by his children, Quinn Jr, Glaen, Arianne, Brennen, and two grandchildren.
