Is it possible for someone to "accidentally" leave their partner on the road during a trip? One woman found out the hard way, as we learn in this shocking story.

You'd think it's impossible for an adult to drive several miles without noticing his travel partner is missing but this Thailand man, Boontom Chaimoon, wants us to believe that.

The Worst Christmas Road Trip

Boontom, 55, and his wife, Amnuay, 49, decided to spend Christmas with the latter's family, so they traveled by road. Things were going fine until they made a pit stop at night for Amnuay to pee.

The 49-year-old wanted her husband to stop at a gas station earlier, but he didn't, so she waited until the next available option. She rushed to release her bladder's content and returned to the car only to find it gone!

Feeling Scared And Alone

Alone, at night, with none of her belongings, Amnuay did the "next best thing" in her opinion - trekked 12.4 miles to the nearest town. A Thai local news station Matichon, interviewed her and she said,

"I felt so lost and scared"

She didn't think Boontom did that intentionally so she strove to reunite with him.

The nearest town, Kabin Buri, was over 12 miles away from where Amnuay was stranded. When she reached the town, the 49-year-old contacted its police station. Unfortunately, the officers called Boontom's mobile phone overnight to no avail.

Amnuay slept at the police station until the following morning when Boontom finally picked up his phone. He rushed to the station and apologized for the mistake saying he thought his wife was asleep in the car.

Amnuay Forgives Her Husband

The police sorted the matter without hassle, as Amnuay was too tired to argue. She got into her husband's car with no incident, and they left. Meanwhile, we can't say the same for the internet.

In His Defense

Twitter users can't believe Boontom's actions were accidental, as it seems impossible to drive 12km without noticing your missing road trip partner. Some people defended him, saying he appreciated the hours of peace without chatter from Amnuay.

Bontoom Acted Intentionally

Another person joked at the bit in the headline which read, "By Mistake."

Time To Rethink Her Marriage

Other users warned Amnuay that it's time to rethink her marriage while some people don't think the story is true.

It Was Hardly A Mistake

It's improbable that the husband didn't notice his wife wasn't in the car because he could've observed the backseat through the front/rear view mirror. Also, didn't he think to check on her once during the trip?

It's Old News

Further research on the internet show that this story is over six years old but it doesn't make it less scary and ludicrous! See further reactions below.
