Tragedy Strikes Detroit Once Again With Three Separate New Year’s Day Shootings

Detroit witnessed 3 attacks on New Year's day, with 6 people shot, leaving one injured and one dead. Residents of these affected areas and people are starting the New Year on an underwhelming note.

This isn't the first time shootings will happen on New Year's. In 2021 and less than 10 hours into the New Year, six people were shot in Detroit, with three confirmed dead.

E. Warren And Outer Drive

Police rose to an emergency call by residents of E. Warren and Outer Drive with reports of shootings around 1:40 a.m. at a New Year's Eve Party.

Police Arrived At The Scene

As soon as the police arrived, they found one person shot and confirmed two more fatalities who had been taken to the hospital by concerned individuals.

One Person Confirmed Dead

Not long after the officers arrived at the scene, emergency services also came and sadly confirmed that one person who had been hit couldn't make it, and they pronounced him dead.

The Victims

The Detroit Police Department's Homicide Unit Investigators have since swung into action, and the suspects who fired gunshots at the three injured people at the location were unknown. The victims have been taken to the hospital and received treatment, but their current condition remains private.

7700 Block Of Central Avenue

Officers arrived at the shooting scene around 5:45 a.m. on Sunday. They found two people hit by a gunshot at the location, and medical officers got them to the nearest hospital to stabilize their situation.

Ongoing Investigations

The police remained tight-lipped on any information regarding the suspect and began investigating at the scene. The Detroit Police Department Second Precinct Detective Unit is effectively handling the case.

2900 Block Of Fullert0n Street

2900 block of Fullerton witnessed the same gory scenario as police responded to reports of sporadic shootings in the early hours of Sunday morning, exactly around 6:30 a.m.

The Victims

Authorities found one person with a severe gunshot wound at the spot of the shooting, and the victim was helped to the nearest medical care by private individuals, where they stabilized his condition.

A second person was assaulted by the suspects and pronounced to be in stable condition following examination and treatment by medical officers.

While the reasons surrounding the shooting remain unknown, the Detroit Police Department's Tenth Precinct Detective Unit has begun a severe investigation into the unpleasant situation while intensifying efforts to keep Detroit safe at all times.
