The couple has come a long way from becoming friends at the May 2014 White House Correspondents Dinner to being married. However, the native of Colombia was engaged to Nick Loeb at the time. The Drunk Parents actor didn't want to interfere with Vergara and Loeb's romance, despite being seen gazing at her behind in a widely circulated photo from the occasion.

The pair fell in love quickly and got engaged on Christmas Eve 2014 while traveling to Hawaii. Manganiello and Vergara wed in November 2015, making him the stepfather of Manolo, the actress's adult son with her ex-husband Joe Gonzalez.

The actor revealed to Haute Living in June 2015 that he proposed to Vergara as "the sun was going down pink over the mountains and the water" and said, he just knew Sofia was the one.
