Canadian superstar Drake recently unveiled a flashy new piece of jewelry. Known as "Previous Engagements," the piece was commissioned by Drake, and created in collaboration with New York jeweler, Alex Moss. The piece was revealed when Drake performed at the Lil Baby and Friends Birthday Celebration Concert at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, which took place on December 9th.

Made with 42 diamonds taken from engagement rings, "Previous Engagements" took Moss 14 months to complete.

Moss Posted A Clip Of The Necklace On Instagram.

In the caption alongside the post, Moss writes that the necklace was given the name Previous Engagements "for all the times [Drake] thought about it but never did it." Drake has had a number of public relationships but has never been married or engaged. This piece shows that marriage has been on his mind plenty of times.

The necklace features 42 diamonds that total 351.38 karats in all. They're mounted onto a chain made of 18-karat white gold.

Moss spoke with Robb Report, stating that he and his team put in a considerable amount of effort to ensure that the necklace matched Drake's personal taste. He stated, "Holding ourselves to such high standards this chain took even more time to make sure the stones all matched in color, cut and clarity."

Creating The Necklace Was A Huge Undertaking.

As Moss stated, everything needed to be just so. Choosing the diamonds for the necklace was not just about matching the cut and clarity, but also needed to have more meaning for the rapper. According to Robb Report, each diamond represents a different relationship in Drake's life.

This Is Not Drake's First Collaboration With Moss.

Last summer, Drake commissioned Moss for his 18-karat white gold "Godfather Ring," which contains 12 diamonds in itself. Moss has created several other pieces for Drake in the past, including his diamond studs and Lucky Number 11 ring.

According to Moss, it seems that their collaborations are far from over. "Working with Drake just feels so natural I felt like I’ve known him for years, we both grew up in Toronto so maybe it has something to do with that. It was a pleasure and an honor, but the scary thing is we’re only just starting."
