A Florida couple got the best Christmas gift of their lives when they found their long-lost engagement ring in the least likely place! Nick Day, the husband, proposed to his wife Shaina in 2001 with a diamond ring.

However, before their big day, Shaina lost the priceless diamond after a trip to the toilet.

Shaina Loses Her Ring

"I think I lost my ring," Shaina told her husband. Then explained that it was on the washing hand basin the last time she remembered it but guessed she lost it in the toilet. Not to worry, superman Nick would save the day.

They Searched Everywhere

Nick left no stone unturned in searching for the diamond ring as he dug through their septic tank and pumped it with a filter to no avail. That didn't stop their nuptials as the lovebirds found another ring for their wedding day.

A Christmas Surprise

This year, Nick's mother, Renee decided to replace her toilet after 21 years, so she hired a local plumber to do the job. Behold, they found the escaped diamond ring hidden in the crevices of the Toilet bowl.

Renee called her son, Nick, and asked him to identify the ring, which he did successfully. His mother then cleaned it until it was shiny new and wrapped it in a gift.

On Christmas day, Nick and Shaina received their long-lost love token but didn't know until later in the day during the unboxing.

Shaina Was Overjoyed

An overjoyed Shaina couldn't help it when the tears started streaming and ruining her makeup.

"It was kind of an ugly cry. I sat there and I was like 'oh my gosh, this is my ring. This is my ring.'"

Incorporating It Into Other Jewelry

Since Shaina has another ring that's been with her through thick and thin since 2001, she's not ready to let it go for the runaway diamond. However, Nick and she would keep it and then incorporate it into other jewelry.

Always Exhaust All Options

Speaking to a local news station, WFLA 8, the couple said they'll always exhaust all options before giving up. They'd have found their engagement ring if they'd checked the toilet and not just the septic tank.

It Was Fate

It's speculation, though, to think they'd have seen the ring 21 years ago as it could've easily fallen into the closet as they searched for it. Anyway, it's more interesting that they found it this way.

A Family Heirloom

The diamond has become a family heirloom with a nice backstory for future generations. Hopefully, it doesn't run away again!
