The actress who got her big break 25 years ago in the movie Titanic got candid about getting older and shared empowering thoughts to anyone going through some form of body shaming in the industry due to their age.
"I'm 47, there are bits that don't do what you want them to do anymore. And there's something kind of fab about going, 'Oh well, that's just the way it is, isn't it?'"
Winslet is totally letting nature take its course and embracing her current situation with every ounce of positivity she can gather.
Winslet refutes the claims of women declining in their 40s and addresses it from a completely different angle.
"I think women come into their forties — certainly mid-forties — thinking, 'Oh, well, this is the beginning of the decline and things start to change and fade and kind of slide in directions that I don't want them to go in anymore."
The actress thinks women in their 40s are even sexier and more powerful, not scared to set records straight, and just grow in every aspect.
"And I've just decided, no. We become more woman, more powerful, more sexy. We grow into ourselves more. We have the opportunity to speak our mind and not be afraid of what people think of us. Not care what we look like quite so much."
The Mare Of Easttown star also admits to feeling a shift in her approach to looks and roles she plays in her movies nowadays, explaining that she now cares about highlighting serious societal issues-the type that people hardly discuss and if that involves looking like a mess half the time, she's willing to take on the challenge.
The award-winning actress shared her true secret to aging in a British Vogue interview in 2021 and it boils down to not being so uptight and self-critical about everything as getting older is a gift.
"For me, it's about beauty coming from within and not being so self-critical." We totally agree and encourage more people to look inwards and really see the true beauty because that's all that matters.
