Shaq Says He's to Blame for Failed Marriage with Shaunie Henderson

Ever since his retirement from the sport of basketball, Shaquille O'Neal has ventured into different areas of business and interests. The former Lakers star is involved in a number of businesses and continues to appear regularly on TV in order to give his take on the latest happenings in the world of sports as well as entertainment. Recently, 'Shaq' entered one of the hottest platforms in the world over the past few years, podcast. The Big Podcast with Shaq takes place once a week where the former Lakers man invites guests and discusses a variety of topics. The 2000 NBA League MVP also appears on a number of podcasts himself.

Appearance on the Pivot Podcast

Recently, Shaq made his appearance on one of the biggest podcasts where he opened up and discussed a lot of his shortcomings both as an athlete and as an individual. In one such instance, he spoke about his marriage with his ex-wife, Shaunie Henderson. O'Neal and Henderson tied the knot in 2002. In 2007, the couple separated for a while before reconciling and getting back together. Unfortunately, this did not last long as Henderson filed for divorce in 2009 and it was finalized in 2011.

Shaq Takes the Blame

In the episode, he said, “I was a d–khead. You don’t know how good you got something ’til it’s gone. I was bad. She was awesome. She really was. It was all me. Sometimes when you live that double life, you get caught up. I’m not going to say it was her. It was all me, Sometimes when you live that double life, you get caught up. The Perfect Partner

Shaq went on to add that Shaunie was the perfect partner he could have asked for. The couple have four kids together, Shareef, 22, Amirah, 21, Shaqir, 19, and Me’arah, 16. He went on to add that she did everything from providing a stable home, to taking care of the children as well as the corporate stuff. O'Neal and Henderson share joint custody of their kids and remain on cordial terms with each other despite being divorced.

Who Is Shaunie Henderson Dating Now?

After her divorce from Shaq, Shaunie was alone for a few years before meeting pastor Keion Henderson. The pair dated for a few years before tying the knot in Anguilla earlier this year.
