Leonardo DiCaprio has had a relatively subdued 2022, the 48-year-old actor did not appear in a single film this year. However, he spent most of his time and energy focusing on his role as an executive producer. DiCaprio was involved in two TV series and one movie as a producer this year with multiple projects lined up for 2023 as well. Despite his absence from the big screen, the Wolf of Wall Street star made headlines for his love life as well as his investments in real estate which only grew in 2022.

A Real Estate Juggernaut

Ever since he made his big break in the industry, DiCaprio has slowly but steadily been investing in real estate. The 48-year-old has properties all across the United States and rents out properties that he does not use frequently. Despite all the lavish mansions, DiCaprio's crown jewel in his property portfolio is an island in Belize that he purchased for $1.75 million in 2005. The 104-acre property was intended to be a 'Restorative Island' which would let visitors enjoy unparalleled luxury while also helping the island rejuvenate itself. Unfortunately at this point in time, this project has not been completed.

Issue With His Neighbor

In 2008, Leonardo DiCaprio was sued by his neighbor for destabilizing their property because of the basketball court he build on his land. The dispute was settled outside the court for an undisclosed amount. There has not been any legal action taken from either side since this incident took place.

Leo Has the Last Say

Earlier this year, one of the owners of the aforementioned property passed away and DiCaprio sensed an opportunity to make his move. The Catch Me If You Can star purchased the 3,527-square-foot home for $10.5 million. The house features four bedrooms and four bathrooms and the deal was carried out off-market. If he combines the two properties, he will own 5.14 acres in the coveted Bird Street neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills. This is the first major real estate purchase since early 2021 for DiCaprio who bought Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Los Feliz Spanish Colonial for $7.1 million.

Recent Spotting

Leonardo DiCaprio recently split with his girlfriend of four years, Camila Morrone. Earlier this week, The Great Gatsby star star was spotted on a date with 23-year-old Victoria Lamas. While there are no reports confirming that the pair are dating, it is safe to assume that the Wolf of Wall Street star will not be single for too long.
