Alexis Ohanian, Serena William's Husband, Reveals Decision About 'Past' Mistakes

In the interview, he said, “I think I leaned too much, early in my career, on things like humor or self-deprecation because I didn't want to sound too audacious. And I might have gotten that wrong,” he admits. “Because now I'm just trying to speak as plainly and frankly and earnestly as I can. And whether people believe it or not, or whether people are annoyed by it or not... I don't really care anymore.”

While Alexis went on to successfully found social networking platform Reddit, not all of his endeavors proved successful. In fact, he quit the LSAT 30 minutes in to head to a local Waffle House.

“While I was eating my waffle, I thought, ‘Gosh, if I don't want to be a lawyer, I probably should not be a lawyer,’” he continued, then revealing that he returned to his apartment to “figure out what I was going to do with my life.”

Serena and Alexis share daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. Speaking of his little girl, the tech entrepreneur said, “At some point, my daughter is going to grow up and run some searches and read about things. I just couldn't live with that dissonance anymore, because I knew that we had tolerated communities like this for too long,” he says. “And so I made it known.”

Serena and Alexis first met in Rome in 2015 while both at the same hotel. One year later, Alexis brought Serena back there to propose - they actually discovered they were pregnant just one month later. Alexis Jr. was born in September 2017 and in November of that year, the couple got married in New Orleans.
