During the San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019, movie lovers were thrilled when Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege announced the new Blade movie. Finally, after waiting for a long time for the film, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's upcoming Blade film is on the horizon. According to reports, Marvel has already set up the movie to be a fresh take on the character that will finally bring the iconic vampire hunter into the MCU fold. Here are the details of the new reboot.

Inside The MCU 'Blade' Movie Teaser

Although the official trailer of the MCU Blade movie is yet to be released, Screen Culture took to its YouTube channel to share a teaser trailer concept of the film. The over one-minute video featured the main character, Mahershala Ali, and co-star, Kit Harington, in their elements. It also showed some spooky scenes, two of which were a statue of Jesus on the cross going ablaze and someone turning into a cauldron of bats. Overall, it was quite an intriguing short clip.

Since hitting YouTube on November 30, 2022, the trailer has racked up over a million views and 300 comments. Unfortunately, some fans were not impressed by the video, especially because of the absence of the original Blade character, played by Wesley Snipes. One user noted that there was no Blade without Wesley, as he made the role his own, while another made it clear that Wesley will always be his Blade.

A third user wrote:

"This guy is also a great actor but I still have to say that they did Wesley Snipes dirty without even letting him do at least one Marvel movie. He's the one who [opened] the doors for Marvel to make all these fantastic movies that they have now."

What Did Other Netizens Think?

While many expressed their dissatisfaction with Wesley's absence, others commended the teaser trailer. One fan confessed that they loved the song People Are Strange playing in the background, which was also played in The Lost Boys. Another wrote that Mahershala looked like Wesley's younger brother, adding that he couldn't wait to see what the series would look like when it premieres.

When Will The MCU 'Blade' Movie Be Released?

Marvel's SDCC 2022 panel revealed that the movie will arrive in the theaters in November 2023, just after Halloween. However, after the film lost its director, the release date was pushed back ten months to September 6, 2024. In the meantime, production is believed to have begun, as it was announced to begin in October 2022. Still, the filming update remains unconfirmed, and fans will have to wait to see what happens next.
