English singer Dua Lipa finally received her Albanian citizenship this weekend, and she's beside herself with excitement. The Grammy award-winning singer shared her joy via Instagram as she celebrated the country's 110th year of independence.

It also coincided with her final Future Nostalgia tour show in the country but knowing Lipa, she probably timed it that way. The 27-year-old met with the country's president, who acknowledged her work as an Albanian voice and a social activist.

Check it out below.

Celebrating 110 Years Of Independence

Lipa flew Albania's flag proudly in a ribbed minidress and sweater combo. Her gown skimmed her thighs with a woven hemline formed in a short flare, while its top had a plunging halter neck teasing her cleavage.

The 27-year-old paired it with a matching sweater jacket and rolled her sleeve cuffs to match her dress' hem. She expressed her excitement in the caption, saying it was a pleasure to perform as an Albanian citizen in Tirana while celebrating independence with her country's people.

Becoming A Citizen

Lipa wore a more conservative dress on her visit to the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and the president, Bajram Begaj, who awarded her personally and praised her work as a social justice activist.

He said Albania is proud of Lipa for contributing to important social causes and using her global success to help less privileged people.

The singer took the citizenship oath before several witnesses with cameras flashing at her. Then she completed the process by submitting her fingerprints and signing the application form for her ID card and passport.

Early Life And Career

Although being born to Kosovan-Albania parents and lived in the region during her teenage years, Lipa only gained her citizenship in Albania. Her parents left the country about six years before the 1998/1999 Kosovo War came to a head and settled in Camden, UK.

They had the singer three years later in London and raised her in the traditional Albanian way, even teaching her the first language as a first tongue. By 11, Lipa's parents returned to their hometown with the singer after her primary school education.

Social Justice Activism

Lipa returned to the UK a few years after and started her singing career. Since then, she's become a multi-award-winning star, even touring the world. The singer's social justice activism occasionally received backlash, but it didn't stop her from doing what she loves.

She launched a newsletter this year called Dua Lipa: At Your Service, aimed at expanding her social justice awareness.
