The holiday season is upon us, which means that New Year's Eve is just around the corner. Traditionally, New Year's has always been a time for reflection, for celebration, but this year — it's all about Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus.
Last year, Miley hosted NBC's New Year's Eve Party opposite Pete Davidson. While the comedian won't be in attendance this year, Miley will be joined on stage by her godmother/country music icon, Dolly Parton.
This video shows Miley and Dolly sitting down at a table together, drinking a glass of champagne — surrounded by flowers, candles, and confetti. Even the champagne bottles are emblazoned with their names.
"Miley's New Year's Eve Party is about getting glamorous and dressing your best," Miley began.
"Well, we do that every day — don't we, Miley?" Dolly chimed in.
"You taught me well," Cyrus said, smiling in reply.
Miley famously covered Dolly's iconic hit, Jolene, almost 10 years ago. Over the years, both Dolly and Miley have performed the song together on stage on a number of occasions. Could this be a way of foreshadowing a performance to come? Fans are certainly hoping so — myself included. Also, if you've not heard Miley's live cover version of Jolene for her Backyard Sessions series, you're seriously missing out.
Miley appears to be all smiles as she gives Dolly a big hug from the back. The pair are each wearing high-heeled shoes, cocktail dresses, and are surrounded by a litter of confetti streamers and silver/gold/black balloons. Already, this looks like one party that you're definitely not going to want to miss out on.
Airing on December 1st., fans can expect to see Miley alongside her godmother in Dolly's two-hour-long holiday-themed movie musical, aptly titled Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas. Dolly and Molly will also be joined by a slew of special guests, including Jimmy Fallon, Willie Nelson, as well as Miley's own father — Billy Ray Cyrus.
"It’s the story of the behind-the-scenes of the making of a network special," Dolly said in a promotional video. "It’s like a show within a show, a movie within a movie."
