What do you do when you find a strange object out in the wild? In general, you probably go to the internet for answers. Or at the very least, you'll post a pic of your neat finding on the net for other people to see. Either way, other internet users are going to share their thoughts and opinions.

One Reddit user went to the Mildly Interesting sub to show off a strange building they found while flying over the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) area, which seems to be much longer than anything they'd ever seen before. And of course, commenters had a lot to say about it.

The User's Picture Captured A Pretty Good Shot Of The Building.

As seen from an airplane window, the mystery building seems to be really long.
reddit | sadeplorable

The user shared their pic, which was taken from the window of an airplane in the middle of its ascent. When compared to the river and highway also seen in the pic, it's pretty clear that the building isn't just super long. It also seems really huge.

It's clear that OP has no clue what the building could be, though it definitely seems like it's some kind of facility.

Many Users Shared Their Theories In The Comment Section.

One user joked about how it's for the DMV's long lines.
reddit | FasterAndFuriouser

Though OP was talking about the DMV state area, commenters joked that it had to do with the Department of Motor Vehicles (also DMV). After all, the DMV is known for its painfully long lines, and the running joke is that people avoid it at all costs. So it would make sense for a super long building to be used for DMV lineups.

Other Users Had Different (Joke) Suggestions In Mind.

One user thought it could be a spaghetti factory.

One user simply suggested that this strange, long building could be a "spaghetti factory." You know, because spaghetti is a really long noodle? Obviously, that isn't the right answer, but it's definitely the most fun answer.

Some People Out There Actually Know What This Building Is, At Least.

A user identified the building as the David Taylor Model Basin.
reddit | Flick-tas

One user took to the comments to give us the real answer as to what this mystery building could be. It's the David Taylor Model Basin, which is a large basin used to test ship designs. It's located in Bethesda, Maryland, which explains why OP saw it on their flight. If you look up pictures of it, they look similar to the one in the Reddit post!

Some Users Have Even Worked At The Facility.

A few users talk about how they used to work in the facility and surrounding area.

According to some former employees (and employees who worked in surrounding buildings), watching the ship and submarine simulations is really cool!
