Possibly the worst part about winter is shoveling snow off your driveway. It's a lot of work just to be able to leave the house to go to the store or to work. The last thing you want to do is come home to find someone else has taken your spot.

That's exactly what happened last winter to a Reddit user who goes by the name topathemornin. When a neighbor stole his parking spot, he decided to get revenge in the pettiest way possible: by pouring gallons of water over the neighbor's windshield. He posted the story to the Petty Revenge Subreddit.

OP's story was definitely petty.

But at the same time, the neighbor kind of deserved it.

In OP's story, he talks about how he and his wife were down to one car. After a snowstorm, they spent a lot of time digging the car out so that they could go to the store. But when they returned, a neighbor had stolen the spot. There's an unwritten rule that you don't take someone else's shoveled spot at OP's apartment complex, so he was especially angry.

So he went into his home, poured gallons of water into a bucket, and made a few trips back and forth to pour the water on the neighbor's windshield. Sure, the neighbor didn't have to shovel a spot, but he did have to scrape inches of solid ice off his windshield the next morning.

Was it petty? Yes. Were users impressed nonetheless? Also yes.

It's pretty common knowledge that you don't steal someone else's spot in the winter like that. One user shared how their complex has kids who will shovel spots for you -- for a fee, of course.

Other users shared how they keep their spots in different cities.

This unwritten rule is pretty universal. But what's kind of surprising is how different cities will use different methods to reserve the parking spot they shoveled. Like in Pittsburgh (and Chicago, apparently), people will stick folding chairs on the spot, and other people will know that a spot with a chair is taken.

Others even shared their own, similar revenge stories.

One user shared the story of how her dad did something similar in the 90s. Somebody took the spot he shoveled, so he shoveled a new spot for himself (as well as a few for the neighbors), and piled all the snow on the spot stealer's car.

As they say, revenge is a dish best served cold.
