Meghan Markle Bought Baby Formula For Family In Need, Tyler Perry Reveals

Meghan Markle quietly searched for baby formula in order to help underprivileged families.

Though the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have taken several steps back from their royal obligations, they still take the time to help those in need whenever they can. So when news broke that Meghan Markle had been going from store to store, searching for baby formula to help a family in need amid the national baby formula shortage that affected millions of families earlier this year, it's completely unsurprising.

Early this week, Tyler Perry appeared at the Baby2Baby Gala that took place in West Hollywood. It was there that he shared how Meghan went to stores in order to find baby formula.

It Started With Perry, Who Began the Search on His Own

During his speech at the Gala, Perry mentioned how an employee of his who was desperate for formula asked if he could help. Because Perry was unable to find any, he asked Harry and Meghan, whom he happens to be friends with. The couple is currently based in California but were in England at the time. Still, Meghan went out of her way to search stores by herself, looking for formula in order to help the family.

Tyler Perry’s Friendship With Meghan and Harry Started Out Sort of Strange

Meghan and Tyler Perry became friends after she married Prince Harry. Perry had reached out to her, amid all the backlash she had faced when becoming part of the royal family. But the two would not meet in person until 2020 when Perry offered to let Meghan and Harry stay in his mansion while they established themselves after moving to the US.

Perry Also Helped the Couple With Security in 2021

After the 2021 interview with Oprah in which Meghan opened up about being concerned for her son, Archie, and their lack of security, Perry offered them some of his own security detail. Time and time again, Tyler Perry had treated the couple with kindness, and Meghan being able to shop for the formula was definitely one way she could give back to her friend.

Harry and Meghan Have Been Living in the United States Since 2020

Though they still retain their royal titles, the couple famously stepped back from the royal spotlight, moving to the US in order to pursue other ventures. They welcomed Archie in 2019 and Lilibet in 2021 and raise their kids in California.
