In a recent interaction with the staff in a Starbucks location, a customer became outraged after staff knocked on the door to check on her when she had only been using the restroom for between 5 and 10 minutes, and was in the middle of changing her pad/tampon.

Jolie (@blesstmomma) uploaded her argument with a staff member and later a security guard to TikTok. Posted just last week, the TikTok has already gained 3.5 million views. Commenters from all over weighed in on whether Jolie's reaction was warranted.

In the Initial TikTok, Two Separate Men Argue With Her

The first part of the video shows a Starbucks employee who says that Jolie must leave after being "disrespectful" to the establishment. She argues back that the particular location has had a history of being discriminatory to Black customers using the bathrooms, and now feels that the staff is singling women out.

The next clip shows a security guard arguing with Jolie, claiming that she needed to leave because she was beginning to upset other patrons.

In the third part of the video, a customer can be seen crying and complaining about how Jolie's outburst is ruining her day.

Jolie Later Posted a Second Clip, Which Further Showed the Argument Between Herself and the Security Guard

In the second TikTok, the security guard asks Jolie to leave and states that police are on their way. This does not deter Jolie, who then states she needs to change her tampon. The security guard tells her she can't do it at that Starbucks.

The security guard also explains that the building's manager had hired him because of issues with homeless people. Jolie takes offense to this, stating that she is not homeless and that the actions of the staff and security are an insult to her and her womanhood.

Commenters Weigh In on the Situation

A commenter sides with Jolie, stating that these kinds of policies seem weird.

Plenty of commenters sided with Jolie, stating that they felt that staff checking in on customers in the bathroom like that just didn't seem right.

But According to Others, It's Part of a Policy

Other commenters discuss how the Starbucks employees were following policy.

Other commenters who work/have worked at a Starbucks weighed in, stating that the company has a policy that states that employees must check in on customers when they're in the bathroom for an extended period of time. It's for safety, in case something happens to a customer.

Still, Some Thought That They Checked In on the Customer Too Soon

Former Starbucks/retail employees discuss how they were required to check on customers in the bathroom, but after a much longer period of time.

Other users who have experience working in Starbucks or other kinds of service or retail jobs believed that, while the policy does exist, the staff that argued with Jolie should've waited longer before checking in on her.
