For weeks unending, Twitter has constantly made news headlines regarding the Elon Musk takeover. From taking over as CEO from then-Twitter bosses Parag Agrawal and Jack Dorsey, setting up new consumption rules, laying off Twitter employees' scores, to putting in place a payment method for verified accounts, Musk has had Twitter cast in a negative light. In line with this, some celebrities have also expressed their frustration, and the latest is world champion Simone Biles, who is on the verge of getting rid of the bluebird app from her smartphone.

What Did Biles Say About Twitter?

While millions of fans get to see Simone Biles be at the top of her game in many international competitions, one way she has been able to keep in personal touch and share life updates is through social media. Biles is an ardent social media user and utilizes it to the maximum. However, it seems the sports champion has been facing some roadblocks with her Twitter account and is close to completely doing away with it.

The 25-year-old recently took to Instagram where she opened up on some issues she had been facing with navigating her official Twitter account. The Olympic gold medalist penned in her story:

"So I’m currently in my office, but I do have a question for you guys. On my Twitter, whenever I like scroll down all the way, usually it refreshes and it keeps going. While mine stops and it’s been like that for a year."

Biles continued by asking fans what could be done about the glitch. In the next slide, the sports celebrity shared a screenshot of her Twitter timeline, presenting evidence of what she complained about. She then proceeded to add that she was "literally about to delete Twitter, I can't stand it anymore."

Another Celebrity Who Quit Twitter

Simone Biles' decision to leave the social media app might still be a thing of probability, but one star who has indeed said goodbye to the app is supermodel Gigi Hadid. Following Musk's takeover and the series of actions that followed, Hadud took to her Instagram page, letting fans know that she was done with the app. The star desired it as a cesspool of hate and bigotry."

She directly addressed her decision by noting that while she had been contemplating her exit for a while, the recent change of authority in Twitter further discouraged her. The mom-of-one shared:

"For a long time, but especially with its new leadership, it’s becoming more and more of a cesspool of hate & bigotry, and it's [sic] not a place I want to be a part of.”

Other Stars Who Quit Twitter

Hadid concluded her address about leaving Twitter by apologizing to her fans for choosing to stay away from the app. She then added that she didn't think it was a safe space for anyone and did not think it would do more "good than harm."

Hadid also addressed how the new Twitter CEO laid off the Twitter workforce, including the human rights team. Grammy-winning vocalist Toni Braxton also exited the app weeks into Musk's takeover. Before leaving, Braxton noted that she was appalled by the free speech content she had been seeing. Braxton shared that hate speech disguised as free speech was unacceptable, so she decided to stay off the app.

Inside Musk's Twitter Rules Since His Takeover

A few weeks back, Musk implemented many changes in Twitter and announced that users can now get the Twitter blue verification with a stipulated payment. In the past, the verification badge was often seen on the official accounts of celebrities, companies, and politicians.

However, Musk made it such that regular app users could get Twitter blue at $8 and on a monthly subscription to keep it. He also said that there will be access to make longer videos, and the ads will be reduced to more relevant ones.
