Katherine McPhee Foster, 34, married her husband, David Foster, 73, in 2019 after ending her eight-year marriage with Nick Cokas. The American singer dated the record producer a year before and engaged him shortly after.

Three years into their marriage, the R&B singer reveals the secret to keeping the spark alive in their union and reconnecting periodically. The tradition is necessary because they have a significant age gap, making them generations apart.

However, the age difference is rarely a deal breaker in most relationships, provided the couple is willing to do the work and McPhee and Foster are eager.

Keeping The Spark Alive With Meaningful Conversations

Last summer, the couple shook their fans with a steamy picture of themselves via McPhee's Instagram. It's one of the many shots that prove they have a healthy intimate relationship and aren't ashamed to show it off.

Speaking to Fox News, McPhee credited consistent communication for maintaining the spark in their marriage. She said she only needs a glass of wine during their traditional talk sessions, although Foster doesn't drink alcohol.

"'I’ll have a glass of wine (he doesn’t drink) and we just talk. That’s our time together that we always make sure to have."

Talking About Everything

McPhee added that there's always something to talk about, especially with the birth of their one-year-old son, Rennie. The conversations are to help them reconnect and maintain a close relationship despite their demanding careers.

During Father's Day, McPhee thanked the record producer for making her a mother while declaring her love for their "little family." She said he doesn't complain about the difference having a young wife and child made in his life, and he makes co-parenting easy.

Releasing A Joint E.P.

Foster is as crazy about his wife as she is about him, and they took that affection into the booth. The couple released a Christmas E.P. this year and spent some time doing a promotional press run during the Fall season.

Talking isn't the only way they stay connected, as McPhee and Foster engage in other fun activities to retain their youthful spark.

Mutual Respect For Each Other

McPhee, during her interview on CBS Mornings, McPhee reminisced on meeting Foster 17 years ago as a contestant on American Idol, being married to him, and working with him officially for the first time.

She said working with Foster was natural, and because she respected him as a Music Producer, she took his advice, corrections, and criticisms well without talking back. The result is Blue Christmas which is about to be another timeless classic.
