Twitter is a very, very strange place. One day, people will be joining hands and bonding over their love of a fictional character, or a random yet strangely universal experience. Other times, everyone will gang up on one innocent user for seemingly no reason.

This week, Daisey Miller faced a lot of backlash on Twitter. Why? Because she drinks coffee in her garden with her husband every morning.

On October 21st, Daisey tweeted a pretty innocent tweet.

"My husband and I wake up every morning and bring our coffee out to our garden and sit and talk for hours. Every morning," she writes in the tweet. Seems perfectly fine, right?

Well, apparently some people had major problems with Daisey's lifestyle.

Some people took Daisey's tweet as bragging. In fact, with the virality of the tweet, plenty of users expressed how upset Daisey's happiness with her husband made them. For some reason.

Many others took this to mean Daisey and her husband were rich.

For whatever reason, people were really upset at the idea of somebody else taking time to themselves in their mornings. And according to those same upset people, it's something only wealthy people can do.

Daisey later tweeted a quick update in response to the backlash.

"We are not rich by any means. We’ve worked extremely hard to get to where we’re at."

It's kind of strange that she has to defend her lifestyle, but here we are.

In spite of the backlash, plenty of users came to Daisey's defense.

"Let’s normalize being in love and appreciating quality time with your partner," one user tweeted. That definitely sounds better than projecting your own unhappiness on strangers.

Others pointed out how the rhetoric within the backlash made no sense.

"'Eat the rich' has gone from 'no one should be a billionaire' to 'no one living above the poverty level treating themselves and their husband to morning coffee in their garden should be happy.'"

And of course, plenty of people took this as a chance to make jokes.

Because let's be real, the way people are hating on Daisey because she's happy with her life is kind of funny. At their expense, of course.

Because when you really look at it, this whole thing is overblown.

Jokes aside, the idea that someone else can't be happy because they have things you don't have is just weird. Don't live your life based on other people.

Daisey, meanwhile, has embraced her new persona.

With all the buzz around the initial tweet, Daisey has taken to going by "Garden Coffee Lady." Talk about turning a weirdly negative situation into something a lot more positive (and lighthearted).

And rest assured, she and her husband still go to the garden.

At the end of the day, this is just another example of the internet being the internet. Sometimes it's great, and other times you're picked on for being happy.
