Who here loves to carve out their pumpkins for Halloween? It's fun, right? But it's also a messy affair. So do you still do it regardless? That's a trooper, haha.

Anyway, I'm here to show you the ways you and I, both, have been carving our pumpkins all wrong. Yes, you heard that correctly. Let me set you straight and show you what you should do instead. Come on!

Check this out.

A woman calling herself "Everyone's Grandmother" (@brunchwithbabs), Babs on TikTok recently shared a few of her pumpkin carving tips. And I have to admit I didn't know quite a few of them. So let's take a look here.

Tip #1

Did your mom tell you to stand up to carve a pumpkin? Well, that's wrong. You should actually sit down to do it. Put the pumpkin on your lap and go to town. It's as easy as that. Just make sure you don't use a long knife, so you don't stab yourself in the knee, hehe.

Now on to the actual carving. How do you start? Do you carve the top of your pumpkin? Again, wrong! You should actually carve out the bottom of the pumpkin first. In her caption, Babs explains that "That way you have the stem to hold onto and you can easily slip the pumpkin right over a candle or flashlight."

Tip #3

Let's get on to the nitty-gritty. Now comes the dirty part. Usually, people just start grabbing the pumpkin guts with their hands and start to pull them out. Yuck! I hate that part, haha. But according to Babs, there's a better way to do it. Just use your electric hand mixer.

Um, what?

Seriously? How bloody genius is that? I feel ashamed of myself that I didn't even think of that. This woman is so cool! The mixer does all the hard work loosening up all those strings, and all you need to do now is just spoon them out.

Tip #4

Let's move on to the drawing on your pumpkin. Babs suggests using a red dry-erase marker, so you can get rid of the lines once you carve it out. Again, this is pretty brilliant, and I'm shocked it never crossed my mind.

Tip #5

Some people might feel uneasy using a knife to carve out their pumpkins. That's understandable. So instead, Babs suggests using a cookie cutter and a mallet to smash out the shape you have drawn out. Aha!

Tip #6

I don't know about you, but I think that sounds like fun. Anyway, let's go on to the next and final step. You definitely don't want all your hard work to go to waste. Am I right? So, Babs suggests you rub some Vaseline on the inside of the cuts you made when you carved out your pumpkin. It will keep the area moist, and your creation won't dry out as fast.

What did I tell you? This woman is a pumpkin carving genius. She also says that if you want your Jack-o-lantern to smell delicious, sprinkle some cinnamon on the bottom and place a lit candle.

Wow! I can just imagine the scent that would produce, and I need to do that. But as always, never leave a burning candle unattended. Okay? What do you think of these tips here?
