The Royal family has both been frozen in mourning and kept in perpetual motion by all the official changes that need to be made after Queen Elizabeth's passing, with newly-appointed King Charles III making his first national address just 24 hours later.

In his speech, he expresses sorrow over his mother's death, while also thanking other members of the family for their support during this time.

King Charles III just held his first address to the nation.

In the speech, he paid tribute to his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, tears in his eyes as he remembered all who his mother was.

He began his speech by saying, "I speak to you today with feelings of profound sorrow."

The speech was screened at a service of prayer and reflection at St Paul's Cathedral.

He said Elizabeth was an "inspiration and an example to me and to all my family."

"[...] we owe her the most heartfelt debt any family can owe to their mother; for her love, affection, guidance, understanding and example."

He then pledges himself to "uphold the Constitutional principles at the heart of our nation."

He then spoke of his son, Prince William, saying, "With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the center ground where vital help can be given."

He also mentions his wife, Camilla.

He shares that she's had an integral role in him being able to stand tall in the wake of his mother's death, paying tribute to the "loving help of my darling wife Camilla."

He even mentioned Megan and Harry, wanting to "express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas."

The sweetest moment, though, came right at the end.

"To my darling Mama, as you begin your last great journey to join my dear late Papa, I want simply to say this: thank you. Thank you for your love and devotion to our family and to the family of nations you have served so diligently all these years. May 'flights of angels sing thee to thy rest'."
