Apparently, Men With Facial Scars Are More Attractive to Women

If a man wants to make a mark on a woman, all he needs is a scar!

This logic bypasses the usual physical traits women find desirable in a man, such as his height, his personality, and his buff bod from countless hours in the gym.

While scars are normally seen as flaws, a new study has found that Western women consider facial scars on men to be attractive!

First, let’s look at some of the most famous men with scars in Hollywood, starting with Jason Momoa.

In addition to the long hair (which he recently cut for a good cause) and the jacked bod, the Aquaman actor is known for the scar on his left eyebrow.

It made him look all the more badass as Khal Drogo in 'Game of Thrones.'

So, how did he get the scar? “It was crazy,” Momoa told Access Hollywood in 2011. “A guy smashed a pint glass in my face. I got a little over 140 stitches in my face.”

Prince William is next.

While you imagine him to be prim and proper, the royal has a scar on his forehead, much like Harry Potter.

But instead of getting it from a deranged wizard, Prince was accidentally hit with a golf club when he was 13.

"We were on a putting green and the next thing you know there was a seven-iron and it came out of nowhere and it hit me in the head," he said in a 2009 interview.

"I call it [my Harry Potter scar] because it glows sometimes and some people notice it — other times they don't notice it at all," he said.

Seal could very well be called “Scar” due to the number of scars on his face.

This is the result of a skin condition known as discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE).

In addition to causing permanent scars on his face when he was 23, it also caused permanent hair loss.

Keanu Reeves also has a scar.

Since the actor isn’t often topless in movies, most people don't know that the actor has a long scar running up his abdomen from a motorcycle crash. "I call that a demon ride," Keanu told Rolling Stone.

Scars have made their mark in Hollywood movies.

They're used to make a male actor look tougher. Take Al Pacino in Scarface for example. He got his scar from a fight as a kid. This made him look like someone you didn’t want to mess with.

Many movie villains have scars.

This includes everyone from Kylo Ren in Star Wars to The Joker in The Dark Knight. These special effects or makeup were added to make a villain appear more menacing. A person who has scars isn't someone who's typically afraid of getting hurt.

This all brings us to the million-dollar question: what is it about scars that are attractive to women?

A study sought to find out. They found that "battle scars" acquired through combat advertise valued traits. They gave an example of this.

"Yanomamö men often shave their heads and rub red pigment into their scalps to increase the visibility of their scars, thus demonstrating their bravery and ability to withstand and recover from an enemy’s blow."

They found that posttraumatic scars may signal that a man isn't afraid of risks.

This is deemed a desirable trait for women, especially for short-term relationships.

Think about it: the man at the bar with the scar on his face looks a lot more interesting for a hookup than the guy who looks tightly wound.

The study found that scars on females aren't as desired by men.

This is because masculinity increases male attractiveness; the same can't be said for women.

So there you have it, fellas. If you have a scar, embrace it! It's a good look that makes you look strong.
